Over the next few days and weeks I will be listing quite a large number of rare Pink Floyd titles. To get a "heads up" on new listings, why not add me as a favourite seller?
This has to be a unique sale of Pink Floyds most iconic album, The dark side of the moon.
Included in this sale is an extremely early 2nd pressing with the A3 / B2 matrix. This grades as a solid excellent copy. Also included are copies of the 20th, 30th, 40th and 50th anniversary releases. The 20th anniversary edition is a boxed CD set (this particular anniversary was NOT released on vinyl). The 30th anniversary edition is in almost as new condition. The 40th anniversary edition is in almost as new condition. The 50th anniversary edition is still sealed in original shrink-wrap.
Also included are another 3 albums, all versions of "Dark side".
The live album recorded at the Wembley concert in 1974. Sealed. The recent release on clear vinyl with laser artwork on the discs. Sealed. The picture disc recorded at The Rainbow theatre in 1972.
I will give a brief description of each album and its condition below. Played using an Audio Technica VM540ml stylus through KEF LSX's
Starting from the very beginning.......
UK 2nd issue. A3 / B2 matrices. Comes with both posters and stickers. Vinyl visually is excellent. Side one plays great. Minimal interference in that so important heartbeat intro. The rest of the side plays really really well. The segue between tracks 3 and 4 is almost silent. The only issue with side one is the last few seconds as the vocals and instruments begin to fade. In these few seconds there is light surface noise with a couple of pops. Side two plays without issue. As befits a 2nd pressing, the sound is clear, punchy and dynamic. Cover is midnight blue, not black. Posters and stickers ARE the originals. Both posters and stickers are in excellent condition, as is the cover. The black inner sleeve, I believe, is not genuine but a very good likeness. I have added a new poly-liner myself. This is a really lovely copy.
The 20th anniversary copy is a special release boxed CD. The 20th anniversary edition WAS NOT released on vinyl. The box itself is extremely tidy with just light storage wear. The CD itself is pristine. Also includes some artwork postcards and an artwork booklet, all in fantastic undamaged condition.
The 30th anniversary edition is immaculate. Nothing worthy of note to mention. 3 posters and postcards are pristine. This has been played once only and stored away. You will not find a better copy.
The 40th anniversary edition also has been played once and stored away. Still in original manufacturers shrink-wrap, but carefully opened to one edge only. All inserts are present and totally as new. A top copy.
The 50th anniversary edition is totally mint. Still sealed in the original manufacturers shrink-wrap.
The picture disc is in superb condition too. I bought it for its novelty value and have never even played it! I am just trying to open up some storage space and selling some of my many duplicates. Both sides of the picture disc are shown in the photos. Looks mint.
The laser printed artwork discs are a recent release. Pressed on clear vinyl with the artwork showing through from the underside as the disc plays. Please note!! only one side of each disc is playable. The side with the laser artwork on is not meant to be played!! This is still sealed in the original manufacturers shrink-wrap. The photos I have shown are from another copy I have which has been opened.
So, probably a unique collection. I have certainly never seen a collection like this put up for sale. I did think about swapping out the A3 / B2 for a solid blue triangle first press (I do have 2 superb copies) but considered those items need to be sold singly as they are such a price to buy, and I am trying to keep this set within a reasonable price area.
