Description

An original 1st press of DSOTM on the UK Harvest label from Spring 1973. Matrix A2/B2 - very 1st cut [nothing earlier exists]. Please note both labels exhibit the original, and aborted, solid-blue-triangle design. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue cover. Please note very 1st issue covers should be black with almost a hint of blue, made of stiff-card, and have the opening on the left-panel sealed. Whilst many copies are advertised with the hype sticker on the front as 'the 1st' - I can assure you that the very 1st copies to leave the printers were NOT stickered. Also included is the original poly-lined black inner sleeve with patent info. Then we have both the original posters and both crack-back stickers. So, this set is 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side - nothing heavy or likely to cause significant issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a [mostly EXCELLENT level of playback on Side 2 and mostly NEAREXCELLENT on side 1] with a couple of slight deviations as detailed below... The audio quality, as you would expect from an early well preserved copy, is absolutely superb. This is one of the main reasons that those hunting down ultimate audio insist on these early pre-oil crisis pressings. The sheer dynamics and resolution really are suited to one of the early heavy pressed copies. By and large a lovely rendition with not too much to complain at. I'll start by stating the obvious.. anyone needing a perfectly quiet copy needs to look higher up the grades...and higher up the $$$. This copy is a very nice playing copy which will more than impress any self-respecting PF nut.  Interference is audible in a few spots, but by and large expect a very nice and clean performance. Side 2 - I'd argue... is very very nice indeed ..All I could pick up was a couple of brief ticks in 'Us & Them' and a pop toward the end of 'Brain Damage'.  Side 1 - I'd argue is still very nice indeed it's just not quite as quiet in all areas. Expect a few crackles in a couple of spots...for instance are a few in the intro to TIME. So, expect just a marginally lower quality level in places on Side 1. Both sides, however, are still thoroughly impressive and a real treat to listen to. Please note there is a small tear to the side 1 label - which occurred at the time of manufacture.
Cover (Ex-) In really very smart condition and looking way better than most examples that surface. Most copies tend to exhibit a lot of handling wear which this copy seems to have escaped. On the front there's nothing worse than a couple of very light indentations. On the rear there's the faintest outline of ringwear and a scratch down in the bottom right corner. The interior looks great - no issues at all. Edge wear is pretty light for this title and the spine is pretty much entirely intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) No splits and little wear.
Posters (Ex+) Factory fresh. No problems at all.
Stickers (Ex) Have not been peeled. Just one or two light creases.
