The resulting sound is astonishingly realistic. The acoustics are on a different level from CD and SACD and are incredibly beautiful and moving. To all music lovers especially to generations who did not know my father this live recording combines classical beauty with erupting excitement and is filled with the very essence of emotion power and composition. And the people of Japan will remember this great performer: my father Pierre Fournier who first visited Japan in 1954 and always felt close to his Japanese fans. His sincerity nobility and courage were immortalized in this well-received Tokyo performance. I am delighted with this disc which so beautifully restores my father's sound which combined intensity and beauty. ~ Jean Fonda Fournier About the Artist Pierre Fournier Born in Paris on June 24 1906. His father was a soldier and Governor of Corsica and his mother was a pianist. Under his mother's tutelage he aspired to become a pianist but after polio left him with a disability in his right leg he switched to the cello at the age of nine. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire.
