Description
For sale are two LP's by guitarist Pierre Bensusan, "Pres de Paris"(1975) and "2"(1979). Rounder records 3023 and 3037. Quality pressings.
Born in 1957 in Oran, French Algeria[1] he moved to Paris with his family when he was four years old. He studied piano and classical music at the age of seven. Four years later, he began to teach himself guitar after his father had bought him a steel string acoustic guitar and a classmate taught him "a few chords".[2] At seventeen, he signed a contract for his debut album, Près de Paris, which won the Grand Prix du Disque at the Montreux Festival.
His influences include Big Bill Broonzy, Larry Carlton, Martin Carthy, Ry Cooder, Reverend Gary Davis, Davey Graham, Jimi Hendrix, Mississippi John Hurt, Bert Jansch, Nic Jones, Paco de Lucía, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, John Renbourn, Django Reinhardt, Ralph Towner, and Doc Watson.
Bensusan uses DADGAD tuning system and electronics, such as delays, distortion, and volume pedals. He has stated that he became interested in playing in DADGAD because of its "mystical" and "romantic" quality which made him feel like he had gone back to the 16th or 17th century.
He includes scat-singing in his compositions, both composed and improvised. He has collaborated extensively with saxophonist Didier Malherbe. He performed the song "ELM" for the Cowboy Bebopsoundtrack Cowboy Bebop No Disc for Yoko Kanno.
In 2006, Bensusan contributed his song "Falafel a Montsegur" to the album Artists for Charity – Guitarists 4 the Kids, produced by Slang Productions, to assist World Vision Canada in helping underprivileged kids.[3]
Intuite (Favored Nations, 2001) was his first instrumental, solo acoustic guitar album. It included a song he dedicated to Michael Hedges.[4] (Wikipedia)

Condition
If two grades appear, the first grade is the cover and the second is the record. If only one grade appears, it is for the vinyl only. A 2-lp album counts as two LPs. I grade my records conservatively.
SS = still sealed
M- = near mint, or unplayed condition. Cover is nice and new looking with no ring wear.
EX = only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which will not distract significantly from the sound. Cover also has only slight wear, and is still in nice collectible condition. In general, if not for a couple things, it would be near mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find highly acceptable.
VG+ = played often with moderate surface wear and some moderate noise - still plays well. Cover may have medium overall wear or some ring wear. Minor warps that do not affect play are OK.
VG = overall wear, but no skips of serious defects, more noisy sound during quiet passages. Cover is well worn, usually with considerable ring wear.
VG- = heavy wear on record and cover.
G or G+ = Poor or Rough condition.
Guarantee
All records are guaranteed to be in the condition stated or you may return it and receive a full refund, postage excluded. Record must be returned immediately. Insurance on domestic mailings is recommended. Insurance on foreign shipments is usually cost prohibitive, but you may inquire prior to your purchase for options.
