After a slew of albums that had built Led Zeppelin into the biggest rock band in the world, there was a frenzied anticipation for 1975's Physical Graffiti. Masters Page, Jones, Bonham and Plant did not disappoint. This two-disc LP set is a sprawling and adventurous effort, again propelling the band farther from its four-beat blues and roots to a progressing rock unit. Dabbling in middle-eastern rhythms, folk styling and their signature heavy blues rock riffs, the result pushes Graffiti to the upper echelon of the double albums that were prevalent (and usually indulgent) of all major rock acts in the 70s.
Highlights include concert favorites, “Kashmir,” “Custard Pie,” “Houses of the Holy,” “The Rover” plus “In My Time of Dying,” “Trampled Underfoot,” “In The Light,” “Bron-Yr-Aur,” “Down by the Seaside,” “Ten Years Gone,” “Night Flight,” “Wanton Song,” “Boogie With Stu,” “Black Country Woman” and “Sick Again.” Mastered under the direct supervision and approval of Jimmy Page. I own this one on my personal collection, and this album sounds absolutely great, really never heard LZ sounds this G O O D, …. a must have for fan eager to hear it on vinyl.
