Condition:
Sleeve: The sleeve is near mint, the laminate back and front are nice and clean, the spine is uncreased and legible. Over the years I have seen several copies of this album and it appears that all the first pressing covers have the same minor fault. That is that the side tabs for the top and bottom of the cover have been pasted over rather than under on the rear of the sleeve. These tabs are matt paper and consequently they show very light discolouration. The top tab also has a small letter S marked in biro. The original Saga inner sleeve shows some browning and has 243 written in biro in the top right hand corner.
Labels are very clean (black/silver) There are some light spindle marks to both sides.
The Record: Saga pressings can be terribly bad, quality control was not there forte. Now the good news...This pressing is fantastic! clean, bright, punchy, warm analog sound, mmmmmmm! Although the spindle marks to the labels indicate that this album has been played several times, the vinyl is near mint, still retaining a factory sheen and showing no marks beyond some very faint scuffing from the inner sleeve, this is only visible under a halogen lamp.
This album is much sought after and very rarely turns up,especially in such fantastic condition. Phil Seamen is a fantastic drummer and as successive generations discover the delights of British Jazz, his solo recordings and his work with Tubby Hayes remain highly sought after in their original UK vinyl pressings, grab this baby while you can!
