A still-sealed and unplayed copy of trombonist Phil Ranelin's "The Time is Now!" album.
Ranelin began his career as a session musician for Motown records, and appears on many of that label's records. He later formed Tribe with Wendell Harrison, and recorded a series of LPs of experimental jazz records with heavy emphasis on Black Consciousness themes.
Personnel: Phil Ranelin - trombone, percussion; wendell Harrison - tenor sax, percussion; Marcus Belgrave - flugelhorn, percussion; Bill Turner and George Davidson - drums, percussion; Keith Vreeland - piano, percussion; John Dana and Reggie Fields - bass; Charles Moore - trumpet, percussion; Haroun El Nil - alto sax, percussion.
