Description

Note About Shipping To The U.S.
We are located in Canada, but have registered ourselves on eBay.com instead of eBay.ca because it gives us significantly better global exposure.  The problem with this is that eBay wants us to charge shipping appropriate to US, where media mail and other options make for fairly reasonable delivery costs. We tried it for a while but ended up losing money on shipping or having to cancel the orders because we couldn't afford to ship for those rates. To manage this we have set the US shipping to run a calculator based on an American location (we chose Plattsburgh as fairly close) and charging according to UPS pricing.  This avoids the cancellation issue, but can appear to the buyer to be a prohibitive shipping cost and misrepresents the shipping as being only expedited. If you give us your postal code we will see if we can offer a more reasonable option, but generally we can get a single LP by air to most places in the continental US for $11, a double $16, a few bucks less for ground. If you pay for the item and the shipping was less than you paid we will refund you the difference

UP

DELUXE EDITION

1/2 speed 180 gram remaster 45 rpm 7-sided w. etched side

Real World Records   PGLPR11X 2 × Vinyl, LP, 45 RPM Vinyl, LP, 45 RPM, Single Sided, Etched, Deluxe Edition, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Remastered, Half Speed Remaster

UP is the final part of Peter’s trilogy of two-letter-word titled albums and it is available here on CD and heavyweight 2LP.

The 2LP release is Half-Speed Remastered and cut to lacquers at 33rpm.

The vinyl was cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering, mastered by Tony Cousins at Metropolis and overseen by Peter’s main sound engineer Richard Chappell.

Sleeve artwork, inner bags and insert booklet as per the original vinyl release.

The vinyl LP album also contains a download card with a choice of digital download (Hi-Res 24bit/44.1k or 16bit/44.1k).

“It has been heart warming to see the return of vinyl. Even though I loved being free of its limitations in the digital world, there is still a warmth and presence to vinyl that somehow makes it a more natural human companion. It is great to see a new generation learning the secrets of the grooves” – Peter Gabriel

UP soon reveals itself to be another deeply personal statement, with birth and death being near-constant themes. Mostly recorded at Real World (although some initial recordings were made in Senegal, France and on a boat on the Amazon), the album sees contributions from the likes of Peter Green, Danny Thompson, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Daniel Lanois, the Black Dyke Band, Peter’s daughter Melanie and the late, great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Produced by Peter (and mixed by Tchad Blake and Stephen Hague). Hundreds and hundreds of hours of recordings were made, ultimately being slimmed down to the final ten tracks.

“I think some bits [of this record] are personal and some bits are less specific about relationships and more observations on life really. I would say it’s less relationship focused but still quite a personal album.”
