Peter Gabriel — Security (Self-Titled 4th Album) 1982 US Original First Pressing

Up for sale is a beautifully preserved copy of Peter Gabriel’s landmark 1982 album, Security, featuring iconic tracks like "Shock the Monkey" and "I Have the Touch." This copy comes from a well-kept personal collection and offers excellent visual appeal paired with fantastic overall playback.


Condition Breakdown (Goldmine Grading Standard):


Jacket / Cover: Near Mint (NM) The jacket is in spectacular shape, remaining completely enclosed in its original factory shrink wrap. The colors are deep, and the edges and corners remain sharp and well-protected.


Inner Sleeve: Very Good (VG). Includes the original stock paper inner sleeve. It features the usual split seams on the left and right sides due to decades of natural record movement, but is otherwise clean.


Vinyl / Media: Very Good (VG) to Very Good Plus (VG+). The vinyl retains a brilliant glossy luster. Under raking light, numerous light paper scuffs are visible on both sides, which were likely caused by the original plain paper inner liner over the years.


Audio Play-Test Notes:


This record has been fully play-tested on high-fidelity equipment. The prominent audible background noise is mostly limited to the first minute of Side 1, Track 1 ("The Rhythm of the Heat"). Outside of that specific opening track, the background noise is largely absent or entirely unnoticeable throughout the rest of the entire recording on both sides. The rest of the tracks track beautifully with crisp dynamics.

Pressing& Mastering Provenance:


This is an authentic 1982 US first pressing. The lacquers were masterfully cut at Townhouse Studios in London, UK (indicated by the definitive "TOWNHOUSE LONDON" stamps on both sides).


The metal work was plated at Sheffield Lab Matrix ("SLM" and Delta symbol) and high-quality vinyl was pressed at the Specialty Records Corporation plant in Olyphant, PA (indicated by the "SR1" etchings).
