Description

This is a sealed, never-opened 12" LP by the People's Temple Choir titled "He's Able." If you remember, the People's Temple church housed James W. Jones' (AKA Jim Jones') religious cult which later committed group suicide in 1978 in the isolated community they called Jonestown, located in Guyana. Jones and U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan were among 914 people who died in this horrible and bizarre event. This incredibly strange record is an original pressing of a 1973 collection of gospel recordings by the cult members featuring Jones himself.

There was a brief entry on this album on the WFMU blog at one point. It is a scarce relic in any condition, and to find it still factory sealed is quite rare. The album's front and back covers display multiple photos of People's Temple members and their children.

The songs interpreted by this one-of-a-kind choir are: 1. Welcome 2. Walking With You Father 3. Set Them Free 4. Walk a Mile in My Shoes 5. Hold On Brother 6. Down From His Glory 7. He's Able 8. Something Got a Hold of Me 9. Because of Him 10. Simple Song of Freedom 11. Black Baby 12. Will You?

Note: the band Death In June covered a few of these tracks on their 1992 release "BUT WHAT ENDS WHEN THE SYMBOLS SHATTER." Record condition: mint. There is a small crease on the top right corner of the album but it is not plainly visible unless one looks up close. Any discoloration in the listing photos is due to our camera's flash and does not exist on the album cover.
