Elder Marshall Taylor Sr. was born March 1,1928 in Brownsville, Tennessee. He left Tennessee at the early age of six with his family members and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan. In Michigan, he attended Harriet Elementary School and Ypsilanti High School. He also volunteered for the US Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Elder Taylor became involved in narcotics and racketeering which resulted in him being sentenced to Jackson State Prison for approximately three years. While he was out on bond, Elder Taylor (a/k/a the "houseman"), was gambling with friends when his beloved aunt Helen, who raised him, witnessed to him about Christ. She pressured him to give his life to Christ, so he decided during one of his poker games to go to church in order to get her off his back. He told his friends continue playing until I come back; "It's been 58 years and I've never been back. I found out I'm saved by grace".
Elder Taylor pastored Grace Apostolic Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan for 10 years from 1961-1971. He had been evangelizing nationally and internationally for forty years and had been the Pastor of The Word Of Grace Church for the past 15 years until his death. Elder Taylor also recorded his popular sermons such as " ROOTS I & II", " Don't Let The Devil Blow Your Mind","Praises Changes Things", "The Great Snatch", and "Stay With God" and many more. He was associated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W)
