Reprise 2RS-6334, 1968.
ULTRA RARE STILL SEALED ORIGINAL 1ST PRESS!
~ BERT JANSCH * JOHN RENBOURN * JACQUI McSHEE * DANNY THOMPSON * TERRY COX ~
"Were Pentangle a folk group, a folk-rock group, or something that resists classification? They could hardly be called a rock & roll act; they didn't use electric instruments often, and were built around two virtuoso guitarists, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, who were already well-established on the folk circuit before the group formed. Yet their hunger for eclectic experimentation fit into the milieu of late-'60s progressive rock and psychedelia well, and much of their audience came from the rock and pop worlds, rather than the folk crowd. ...the group mastered a breathtaking repertoire that encompassed traditional ballads, blues, jazz, pop, and reworkings of rock oldies, often blending different genres in the same piece. Their prodigious individual talents perhaps ensured a brief lifespan, but at their peak they melded their distinct and immense skills to egg each other on to heights they couldn't have achieved on their own, in the manner of great rock combos like the Beatles and Buffalo Springfield." -- Richie Unterberger
"Sweet Child, released in 1968, at the peak of Pentangle's career, is probably the most representative of their work. A sprawling two-record set, half recorded in the studio and half live at the Royal Festival Hall, showcases just how versatile Pentangle was in their unique brand of English folk, jazz, Celtic, blues, and pop styles. Some of the live covers are easily their finest performances. Furry Lewis' "Turn Your Money Green," sung by the delightful Jacqui McShee, swings sweetly, buttressed of course by John Renbourn and Bert Jansch's guitar tapestry. Charlie Mingus' "Haitian Flight Song" features a great solo by bassist Danny Thompson, who was easily one of the finest musicians to grace the instrument. The studio tracks are uniformly excellent as well, especially "The Time Has Come," which turns waltz time inside out. McShee, Renbourn, and Jansch all turn in career performances on this track. But these examples merely scratch the surface of Pentangle's peak. In all, Sweet Child is an awesome and delightful collection, and probably their finest hour." -- Mathew Greenwald

#2. ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!!
#3. All records are visually graded under a bright halogen light and, when I have the time, sound checked as well!
________________________________________________________________________
GRADING:
MINT = still sealed
NM+ = perfect, flawless, just isn't sealed
NM = one or two inconsequential little marks that in no way effect the play
NM- = just a whisp below NM (probably three of the slightest marks)
VG+ = few slight marks visible under bright light but still plays NM clean
VG = you can hear a couple of pops or crackles but it still plays without any skips -- I RARELY ever will post anything in VG condition unless it is soooo rare that it's just got to heard!
Anything below a VG I would never sell or keep and you should NEVER buy = throw them out!!!!

Geez, I used to see ads that included huge explanations here on ebay and think "Wow, what's that all about?" Now, I have an ad with a huge explanation at the end. Well, time & experience...there are some nasty people out there in cyberland and it only takes one of them to ruin a good week! So, in an attempt to 'ward them off' and keep everything mellow for the rest of us I will continue to keep the huge explanation above and continue the ban on the undesirables!
Oh, and a renewed New Year's wish for you all:
Well, the world just keeps changing and, hopefully, someday we will no longer live under facism or threat of terror but, for now (what is it 3 more years?) we'll just have to hang in there or have a revolution SOOOOoooooooo.....for the New Year:
Stay outta harm's way any way you can = duck, run, don't enlist in any armies, etc...
If everything gets quite and all of the little animals are running away don't try to figure out why first - just remember you're an animal too and RUN with them!
If it's raining A LOT, build that boat that you've always wanted, sleep in a life jacket or, simply, move to higher ground BEFORE the water comes inside your house!
Be mellow and cool and turn that other cheek (yes, you know which one) but, if someone tries to take your home or hurt your people or pets (or vinyl) FIGHT like hell!
Oh, and, last but not least - WHEN THE WORLD GETS TOO WILD TO WATCH ANYMORE -- JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES AND TURN UP THE MUSIC!!!
