Description
For bid is Pearl Jam’s Binaural release on vinyl LP, original pressing. This is NOT the recent bootleg. These are rare. It’s a prime example of why vinyl is fantastic for music lovers! The sound of this album is warm and punchy, having been recorded and mixed all-analog by Brendan O’Brien (Southern Tracks Studio) and Tchad Blake (Sunset Sound). I purchased this new in 2000 and have only played it myself on turntables properly set up and with needles in good condition. The record has one or two very light slight scuffs from sleeve, plays very well. The jacket is in good condition but showing some ring wear on the black. See images. The jacket is medium-heavy weight paper stock. The record sleeve is medium weight stock, leading to its not crumpling up in the jacket. The vinyl is heavier than most.
The two discs are in excellent condition, the dynamic sound intact. In fact it’s clear after I made a simple needledrop to digital that it’s cut from a more dynamic master than ended up on the CD. This is not uncommon. The CD has a dynamic range of 7 dB and my humble needledrop measures at 10 dB. On the track “God’s Dice” it’s especially evident, where the CD shows 6 dB and LP shows 10 dB. The snare backbeats are more pronounced and balanced on the LP, with no loss of meaty sound from the band. You can crank this record. I’ll miss it, but I need to thin my collection. The deadwax for each side has cutters initials TL with a large C around it. Not sure who it is, no mastering credit on the album. Also has the catalog number and a discrete “I” mark. This mark is likely a stamper number indicating this is a first stamper from this original pressing run. This mark is great news for a vinyl collector.
