Description
Paul Revere & The Raiders "Like Long Hair"
This is an original US vinyl pressing on Gardena 1000 from 1961. This is their very first album and it only came out in mono. It's mostly instumental rock n roll with loud sax, guitars, and pounding piano. Usually when you find one of these in the Northwest, it's wasted. They have been played to death. Also they were pressed on cheaper vinyl ( like records pressed on Etiquette, Crown, and Guest Star ) This one is in really great condition !! It looks and plays great.
Overall Condition is : Cover is M- / Record is VG++
The vinyl looks VG++ and it plays VG++, with light background static. There are some light tiny hairlines from handling. But, no scuffs or scratches at all. The cover is near mint with no ring wear, no seam splits, no seam wear, and no writing anywhere. The labels are clean with a few light spindle marks. The record comes in a plain white inner sleeve. The matrix numbers are : Side 1 : PR-1-H G-1000-1 and Side 2 : PR-1-B G-1000-2.
The songs are : Like Long Hair---slow thundering intro then a fast piano boppin' rocker. This was the a-side of their 3rd single
All Night Long---fast sax led boogie woogie with shouted chorus's "all night long" This was the a-side of their 5th single
Summer Time---slow sax led blues. famous song written by George Gershwin
Tall Cool One---groovey driving rocker with piano intro and a couple great sax breaks This was the a-side of their 8th single.
Wabash Blues---a hard driving piano/sax rocker and good lead guitar
Concert In "F" Sharp---funky piano driven rocker with sax
Beatnik Sticks---fast piano and guitar rocker This was the a-side of their 1st single.
Swinging Shepherd Blues---medium sax led blues
Groovey---fast piano/sax rocker with groovey echos. This was the b-side of their 5th single.
The Last Mile---loud medium slow blues with sax break
Road Runner---very fast hard rocker with great breaks This was the b-side of their 8th single.
Moon Dawg---super fast surfin' rocker with monster lead guitar
I have been buying and selling records for more than 25 years. I sell records at all Northwest record conventions and at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon.
I will package this record between two pieces of 1/2 inch cardboard (It's so thick that you will save it and use it again. Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! ) It will weigh 21 ounces ( 1 pound, 5 ounces ) when ready to ship. You can figure out your own postage costs for US priority or Media Mail. Overseas buyers must use First Class Mail International. ( If you are from Italy, you will assume all of the risks of shipping to your country ) I will remove the record from the cover when I mail it. I will send it as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM.) I will combine shipping if you win more than one record. And I will let you know when I receive your payment and when I have mailed your record. This record is from a no smoking, no pets home. Insurance is recommended.
This is so nice and so rare that I have to put a reserve price on it. So, the real bidding will begin at $200.00.
