Description
Paul Paffen, boy soprano with piano. 1970s Australian private VERY RARE LP
AUSTRALIAN RECORDING AND PRESSINGOriginal sleevenote from Paul's solo LP "GOLDEN VOICE ACROSS THE VALLEY" (W&G RECORDS CWG-9253) P-1974:
Traralgon's 12 year old Paul Paffen sings a selection of the songs which have made him famous in Australian music circles. Only once in a lifetime will you hear such a beautiful tone and interpretation from one so young. The artistry of this young musician brings a breath of fresh air into a world of gimmicry and amplified noise. People wonder how a 12 year old boy can produce such an outstanding vocal performance. They are even more amazed when they hear of his additional achievements.
Paul plays Solo cornet in the City of Traralgon Band, of which his father is Bandmaster. He has competed successfully at many country and city Eisteddfods and appeared on Television. On Sunday's, with his sister Stella at the organ, he leads the congregational singing at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Traralgon. He sings at Weddings, Elderly Citizens Club socials, local functions, etc.
Paul's successes are the result of hard work and natural ability. They are also based on the encouragement of his parents, Monica and Jeff Paffen. Myra Mendleson of Melbourne coaches him in voice production, stage presentation, interpretation, speech training and history of music, whilst Kath Teychenne of Traralgon teaches him piano and theory and acts as his rehearsal pianist. Paul's best pal is Pebbles, a miniature Pomeranian; and his life long ambition is to be a Jet Pilot.
Piano Accompaniment LESLIE MIERS. A classical boy soprano international repertoire of the world standard, including some immortal Australian songs. Certainly one of the kind ever issued in this country. Still sounding fresh after all these years, it deserves a wider recognition.
