PAUL McCARTNEY AND WINGS - RED ROSE SPEEDWAY Apple PCTC 251, 1973, 1st Press with super-rare outer-laminated gatefold cover, stapled in booklet, "Wings" logo on labels (later pressings omit this), also there is no braille message on the back - it would seem that was added in the second version of the sleeve (more common matte cover)

The label and the booklet both credit "McCartney Music Ltd/ATV Music Ltd" - later 70s issues had "MPL" credited. "An Apple Record" credited on label.  The LP itself is thick heavy vinyl.
Record Collector states that this should come with a poster - every time I see one of these advertised with a poster, someone has just put a copy of the Band on the Run poster inside it (polaroid snaps of recording studio in Lagos, Africa).  As far as I'm concerned, after much research, and 30 years of record collecting, I have never seen one, and I don't believe there was never a poster available with this album when it was sold commercially.  There may well have been a promotional poster around at the time, that someone may have folded up and put inside their copy, - I know there were quite a few promo stickers/fliers printed for the launch of this LP, but I cannot find any proof (e.g. popsike, previous ebay listings) of a poster officially issued with this.
Cover is VG - a few small blemishes to laminate mainly on back (see photos) - also has previous owner's name written neatly in pen on inner left gatefold, clean and bright cover with lovely deep colours, looking great under the laminate!  A very small start of an edge split along the top of the back half of gatefold and a tiny bit of rubbing to the corners - see photos - Booklet is EX, LP is VG- some light, superfluous marks - which are more visable on side 2, but mainly handling/sleeve removal marks) plays with a bit of surface noise here and there and the odd light click, but on the whole sounds great! No jumps or sticks!  Original plain white inner is EX.
