Description
'PAUL & BARRY RYAN - 'RYANS'
1968 UK *MONO* PRESSING LP
This, their second & final album as a duo, was released just before Barry went solo with 'Eloise'. Extremely hard to find in any format, this true mono version is the one to have. The stereo version was completely re-recorded with much weaker, inferior versions. This album captures the duo's brief excursion into the wonderful world of UK pop/psych. Incredibly, this album or indeed any of its tracks are currently available on CD.
This extremely hard to find album is a UK mono pressing dating from release in 1968 & is on the yellow & black MGM label: MGM-C-8081
The disc is housed within an unlaminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover.
The package is complete with its original plain white 'Patent No..' inner-sleeve.
Matrices: 2XMG 259-1 & 2XMG 260-1
Stamper codes: 1/G & 1/G
These earliest possible mother/stamper codes put this copy amongst the first few hundred pressed.
Disc weight: 138g
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A vivid & vibrant set with just a handful of light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Immaculate, unworn & unmarked deep-gloss surfaces which bear nothing more than a sparkling rainbow gloss and some harmless wispy paper hairlines beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp. Tough to find in any condition.
Play: EXCELLENT +
This copy of this wonderful album has recieved only a handful of careful plays on excellent quality equipment and my single careful playcheck found no evidence of an groove/play wear distortion on any track or in either channel. I picked up just a touch of light background on the final track on side 1 but both run-ins and all bands play without intereference. There are no clicks, pops, ticks or any other such audible distractions anywhere. You won't regret buying this album.
Cover
VERY GOOD
Due to its unlaminated finish, this is extremely difficult to find this cover in any better condition. There is some light storagewear rubbing to the panels and moderate wear to the opening edges. All corners however are in good shape and there is no writing or sections of missing paper anywhere. There is some shelfwear rubbing to the seams but no splits or stresses. The spine also has some rubbing and the text is only partially visible.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD
Some general storage & handling wear, but no major faults.
