Description
I am selling my vinyl LPs. They have all been purchased new from local record stores and I have cherished them to keep them in the best possible condition. They have only ever been played on quality hifi equipment, never used at parties and never loaned out. I am the only person who has ever put them on a turntable.
Patto; 'Hold your Fire', 1971, Vinyl LP, super rare, especially in this condition.
I have loved this band since I first heard them in a live Radio 1 'Sounds of the Seventies' program with Stuart Henry (remember him?). What caught my ear was the guitar playing of Ollie Halsall, who remains one of my favourite UK players. Saw them live and they were fabulous, especially when Ollie played the vibraphone, very, very unusual in a British rock band. You'll hear it on this album. This LP can be obtained as a re-release but this is an original. The Vertigo label is highly collectible, being the place where many great British rock bands of the seventies were given a home (Black Sabbath, for instance). It was unique in that the track listings for both sides were printed on side B of the label, side A being given over entirely to the swirl. Giddy stuff!

SLEEVE CONDITION: Very good. This is a notoriously difficult cover to keep in good condition, due to its design. There are three die-cut sections that fold back to reveal pictures on the inside cover and to make up a kind of variable collage. Poor handling will cause these three flaps to become detached but that is not the case here: the flaps are still attached to the spine and have not been taped. I have not given this sleeve an Excellent rating because there are some blemishes top left and at the top of the lower flap - I have tried to capture these on the pictures. The nature of the design means that the spine will become damaged when the record is removed from the sleeve - it can't be helped. This example shows some spine damage but it is minor and the printing is fully legible. There are scuffs in all the corners but again, these are minor. There are no tape marks or writing anywhere and no ring marks from storage (where the shape of the vinyl has 'printed' though to the sleeve). The rear of the cover where the lyrics are printed is very clean with only a slight mark in the bottom left and not across any writing.
Given its age and the fragile nature of the sleeve design, it is hard to see how a better one could be found, unless it has never been played (which would be a tragedy!)
INNER SLEEVE CONDITION: Excellent. This has the original 'swirl'design, polythene-lined inner. There are some marks where the glue has dried and the polythene inner has loosened.
LABEL CONDITION: Mint. No spindle marks or other blemishes of any kind. I was always scrupulously careful about how I placed the record on the turntable so as to avoid any damage to the label. It wasn't about resale value, I just wanted them to stay in great condition. Don't stare at the swirly side too much when it's playing as it will give you a headache.
VINYL CONDITION: Excellent. The surface has been protected by the polythene liner but this has not resulted in any marks to the vinyl, as sometimes happens. The surface of the disc is bright and shiny. There are no blemishes on this record, not even surface scratches, and I'm sure you will get top quality audio on all tracks.
MAILING DETAILS: LPs are sent in cruciform cardboard sleeves with two sheets of card inside for extra protection. This will be sealed in a waterproof polythene mailing bag.
