Patti Smith: Superbunny. Super rare 1976 bootleg. This is a one of a kind record as it features sleeve artwork and signature of Peter Raengel, singer/guitarist/founder of Australian psych/art punk band The Sunday Painters! Vinyl is NM, with Bruce Dillon label that was used on loads of boots. Sleeve in nice condition for age with some spine wear.

Art plus technology equals rock 'n' roll," declares Patti Smith, just before counting off the Velvet Underground's "We're Gonna Have a Real Good Time Together," and we're off on a typical club date from 1976, the kind of show that made Smith's reputation. The other covers include "Privilege," the theme from the '60s rock movie of the same name; a medley of "Pale Blue Eyes," another Velvets tune, with "Louie, Louie"; and the Smokey Robinson-penned Marvelettes hit "The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game." The Smith originals are the cream of her first album, Horses -- "Kimberly," "Free Money," "Redondo Beach" ("a beach where women love other women"), "Birdland," and "Land" (the latter two with extensively altered lyrics) -- plus "Ain't It Strange" (with its onstage-only introduction, "Love is so simple, love is so pure / Love is something that you must endure"), which would turn up on her second album, Radio Ethiopia. In between, Smith kibbutzes with the crowd, gossiping about other performers (she is particularly preoccupied by the then recently deceased actor Sal Mineo) and making her usual off-the-wall art statements.
