Description

Mint vinyl/G cover. First Press. Pat Metheny’s Bright Size Life is the 1976 debut that redefined modern jazz guitar. Recorded when Metheny was just 21, this LP introduced a "quiet revolution" of lyrical, Americana-infused melodies that moved away from traditional bebop into a more spacious and expressive soundscape.
Key Highlights for Collectors:
The Trio of Legends: Features the early genius of Jaco Pastorius on fretless bass and Bob Moses on drums. Their interplay is often described as a three-way conversation rather than a traditional backing section.
A "Masterpiece" Status: While it sold only 900 copies upon its initial release, it has since been inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry and the Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz.
Signature Sound: Includes iconic tracks like the title piece and "Missouri Uncompromised," showcasing Metheny’s "cottony" tone and unique harmonic phrasing that became his career hallmark.
Whether you are a jazz historian or a casual listener, Bright Size Life remains an essential "must-have" that sounds as fresh and futuristic today as it did decades ago.
