Description
Here is a highly collectible, excellent condition (E by VJM Grading System). E = Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches. I played it and there is very light surface noise but the banjo is very clear and the voice excellent. There is a slightly raised area on the B side near the label, like the start of a crack, but it is not cracked through, and it does not affect the playing. Look closely at the images and judge for yourself. It was photographed using a fluorescent lamp for clarity of condition. This is just one of several blues 78s I am listing this week, so please check my other listings and find a treasure! I will combine shipping for multiple winning bids.

Let's not forget that blues was considered a type of song, not a genre as it is today. One such person was “Papa” Charlie Jackson, a very sophisticated player of the six-string banjo who was one of the earliest and most successful of the solo blues singer/instrumentalists. Jackson was the first really successful self accompanied performer and he has the distinction of being one of the creators of “Hokum”, a spicy form of popular song that made repeated and continual references to sex, his most popular composition being “Shake That Thing”. He also recorded with Ma Rainey and Ida Cox before his subsequent death around 1938. This record was recorded on 11/3/34.
