Description
Extremely rare original 1970 UK Harvest label 10-track first press LP from London-based folk/blues combo, Panama Limited; produced by John Peel. A touch of psychedelia - often described as displaying Captain Beefheart and baroque arrangements.
The first album was undoubtedly a puritan blues album. Panama Limited Jug Band was the name they used on that one, but for their second album, they dropped the last two words and changed vocalist.Liz Hanns the first vocalist, left, and was replaced by the new addition, Anne Matthews. They later disbanded. Therefore, finding an original copy is very difficult (even finding a re-release is hard) This album is therefore being listed for it’s rarity.
Grading/Condition.
Vinyl is Near Mint to Excellent. The vinyl has the light generic green and lime green company labels of Harvest ( without boxed EMI logo above Harvest ) with 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd. All...' upper imprint. Vinyl has machine stamped matrix info: Side 1: SHVL 779 A-1G, mother/stamper: 1P Side 2: SHVL 779 B-2G, mother/stamper: 1M Vinyl is still lustrous with 2 minor scuff marks on run-out of side two which do not affect play quality.
The cover is housed in a generic poly-lined sleeve. The gatefold picture cover is of a lightly textured design by Hipgnosis, printed + manufactured by Garrod & Lofthouse. The gatefold sleeve is in VG- condition with a slight stain to top left hand corner of front cover (as shown in photo) , light to medium scuffing to the bottom and top edges/spine/entry point with very light ringwear on the rear cover. It has its original Harvest inner sleeve which is in VG- condition with some discolouration/browning around the edges and a few very light creases but importantly no tears. Overall, for a record of this age, this superb example represents a rare opportunity for any collector .
