Description

This is a fine original U.S. pressing copy of the landmark second LP by British post-punk group Public Image Ltd., released in 1979.  The record was released in the U.K. as Metal Box, a 45 rpm three-disc set housed in a silver metal canister.  The group's U.S. label wouldn't pony up for this elaborate packaging, and so it was released here as a two-disc set in a gatefold jacket.  The track sequencing was changed slightly (disc 1 replicates the order of the first 3 sides of the U.K. version).  The record was preceded in late 1978 by the single "Death Disco" (a song Lydon reportedly penned for his dying mother when she asked him to write her a disco song), retitled "Swan Lake" on the LP.  The repetitiveness of the LP's tracks does in fact suggest disco, though its more direct inspiration was 1970s German "krautrock."  The gatefold jacket has light creasing in the corners and along the spine and seams.  It is curved somewhat from being in storage (see photo).  Overall EX.  Disc 1 is clean, and plays M-; disc 2 has some light scuffing, and plays with occasional light surface noise -- overall EX+.

I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.

If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
