Obscure private loner/downer raga-folk-opus by Canadian guitarist out of Vancouver - excellent acoustic Fahey-isms with psychedelic overtones and thrilling loner downer vibes. Rarely offered. Vinyl is in VG+ condition (to EX- in a big part of the record) with smooth crackling. Cover with mild ringwear and rubbing and a horizontal scratch near the bottom seam.
Occasionally jaw-dropping instrumental folk guitar LP, with definite Fahey influences and eastern-influenced tracks that fans of Davy Graham would love. Standouts are the original psych hymn that opens the LP, "Obadiah", "Ramdhun" (adapted in a wasted-hippie way from a Hindu folk song), "Miserloo" (trad Armenian/Greek melody transformed in a far-out dreamy-psychedelic improvisation), the "Take Five" trippy-jazz-puzzling-dance and the closer, "Pembroke" which belongs on a psychedelic folk compilation. This is legitimately rare, the only copy I've ever seen. This your shot, don't blow it off.
Michael's interest in East Indian Classical music began during the mid '70s when he met
Balbir Singh Bhangu (a noted East Indian Vocalist) while on an extended tour throughout
western Canada sponsored by the British Colombia Community Arts Council.
At that time he was already a celebrated musician and composer.
It was Balbir Singh Bhangu who taught Michael Sandskrit music notation.
Over the next few months Michael transposed the ragas into western Music Notation.
