Jamiroquai’s debut album, released on vinyl in Japan for the first time.


Celebrating their Summer Sonic 2026 performance! To commemorate their visit to Japan, this is the first-ever Japanese LP release.

The debut album by Jamiroquai, who led the 1990s acid jazz/funk scene. After debuting with the single “When You’re Gonna Learn” on Giles Peterson’s “Acid Jazz Records” and taking the London acid jazz scene by storm, they signed an unprecedented contract with SME UK for eight albums, instantly becoming the darlings of the era and achieving massive success. Jamiroquai’s songs combine a pop sensibility with Jay Kay’s sincere social messages.

The band’s name is derived from the Iroquois, a Native American tribe, and Jay Kay’s iconic fur hat is modeled after those worn by Native Americans. Songs on this album, such as “Too Young to Die” and “Emergency on Planet Earth,” convey Jay Kay’s concerns about social issues like anti-war sentiments and environmental destruction. This social consciousness likely carries on the legacy of artists like Stevie Wonder and Gil Scott-Heron, who have also had a major influence on his music. Released in 1993.
