Description
PROKOFIEFF Lieutenant Kije / STRAVINSKY Song Of The Nightingale Fritz Reiner Conducting The Chicago Symphony Orchestra (NM/NM) 180g Vinyl LP
Record label/brand: RCA Victor LSC 2150 (Classic Records) upc/mpn: None year: 1958
Audiophile reissue by Classic Records. This is the hard to find 180g version, much preferred over the later 200g editions. Sleeve is in NM (Near Mint) condition. Looks like new... no flaws or blemishes. Nice! Vinyl is in NM condition. Looks like new and plays beautifully.
Review: 1959 Reiner/CSO recording of Prokofiev's Lt. Kije is outstanding both in sound and performance. The transfer was directly from the original 3-track tape for the first time and offers low level detail that has been obscured on all previous versions including original pressings. This is a musical/audiophile. Must have - 10++ rating on this Lewis Layton recording!
About Living Stereo: In the decade following 1953, RCA Victor made a substantial body of recordings which have come to be identified with their early stereo release label, Living Stereo. As the adoption of Stereo audio became more widespread, Living Stereo offered a wide range of music and performances in high quality sound. A majority of these records, particularly classical music, offer music, performances and audio quality which are considered definitive. Living Stereo influenced many of the recordings that followed with their recording and marketing philosophies.
