Background: Stranded is the third album by English rock band Roxy Music, released in 1973 by Island Records. Stranded was the first Roxy Music album on which Bryan Ferry was not the sole songwriter, with multi-instrumentalist Andy Mackay and guitarist Phil Manzanera also making song writing contributions. It is also their first album with keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson and bassist John Gustafson, who replaced Brian Eno and John Porter, respectively, after their departures following the release of their previous second album, ‘For Your Pleasure’. ‘Stranded’ reached number one on the UK albums chart.

This is a stunning and super rare signed copy of this amazing album! Signature details included as per follows:

Bryan Ferry – vocals, piano, electric piano, harmonica, cover concept. Bryan has signed with large, sweeping autograph that literally spans the middle and top image on the right-hand side of the inner sleeve! Bryan has signed with a fine black biro-style pen and this superb autograph is graded 8/10 for ink coverage and definition (see photo’s).

Andy Mackay (as Andrew Mackay) – oboe, saxophone, treatments. Andy has signed across his middle image on the left-hand internal panel with a fine black biro-style pen and this autograph is graded 8/10 for ink coverage and definition (see photo’s).

Phil Manzanera – guitar, treatments. Phil has across his middle image on the left-hand internal panel with a fine blue biro-style pen and this autograph is graded 8/10 for ink coverage and definition (see photo’s).

Paul Thompson – drums, timpani. Paul has signed the lower image panel on the right-hand internal panel with a fine black biro-style pen. Please note that autograph is graded 6/10 with some ink loss to ‘Paul’ (see photo’s).

Eddie Jobson – synthesizers, keyboards, electric violin. Eddie has signed the top image panel on the left-hand internal panel with a fine blue biro-style pen. Please note that autograph is graded /10 with some ink loss to ‘E’ in ‘Eddie’ (see photo’s).

John Gustafson – bass guitar was not featured on the inner sleeve, having replaced John Porter on most of the recordings as a new recruit,  and has therefore not signed the sleeve.

Condition: this cover is heavily laminated on both the outer and inner panels of the deluxe gatefold sleeve, and as such has a deep level of shine, minimal corner and edge wear, minimal creasing. The spine has material splits in the laminate, some loss of printed card, and splits to the top and bottom edge of the spine. The inner panel that is signed, has suffered significantly less wear and is overall excellent condition. The inner sleeve has been well handled with moderate creasing to the die-cut lined sleeve. The record has had moderate handling, with numerous hairlines, finger marks and moderate dust and grubbiness. I have not play-tested this vinyl on my high-end system on this basis. Overall grading of very good (minus) condition, but it is the super-rare set of five signatures that make up the intrinsic value of this listing, and this is a cover that would look simply amazing, mounted, framed and glazed featuring the internal gatefold opening panels!
