This first mono pressing is in lovely condition and plays to a superb standard with barely any background. There are no clicks or pops and only a minimal amount of inner groove distortion on a couple of tracks. Oh and three light ticks at the start of S2 but nothing intrusive. The clarity and depth of the audio is very impressive indeed as is the visual look of the vinyl.
The laminated cover has been preserved so well with only minimal wear and the Patents Applied For inner sleeve is also in excellent condition.
This is known as the third variation of the first pressing with a 2/3 matrix and was pressed in 1967.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a very strong glossy look with no scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a small number of faint hairlines and a couple of fade type band lines on S2 which have no affect on the audio, they really are very faint. The run outs grooves are super clean and the Regal Zonophone labels are unmarked with only a little spindle wear. The KT tax stamp can be seen on the S1 label.
Play Grading
There are a couple of static ticks on the run in but the intro / opening vocal on 'Conquistador' play perfectly with no intrusion. It continues to play with super clean audio and I only heard a couple of barely audible statics. The power and depth of the audio is very impressive and Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.
The percussive intro on 'She Wandered Through The Garden Fence' is faultless and Brooker's opening vocal is equal to that with only a couple of barely audible statics. Sorry to repeat myself but I write any background even if barely discernible to the human ear! From then on it plays with stunning clarity and the mid instrumental is a case in point. Brooker's vocal throughout is so clean and from start to finish there is no interference. Mint-
The piano intro on 'Something Following Me' has no background and the opening vocal is just as clean. From then on it plays with stunning quality with no ticks, clicks, pops or static. As good as the day it was first released! The audio separation is so strong i.e. each note is so sharp and precise, I really cannot fault the playback. Mint
'Mabel' is of the same high end standard with no interference. In saying that the actual clarity of sound is not quite on the same level as the previous tracks but I am sure that's down to how it produced / recorded. No distortion though and Near Mint is about right.
The bass / piano intro on 'Cerdes (Outside The Gates Of)' can only be described 'as new' and as Fisher joins in the playback is just as strong. The opening vocal plays with great clarity and Trower's first introduction is perfect. The next vocal is on the same level and it progresses in much the same way. For and end track the audio is superb and again there are no ticks, clicks etc. In essence all sections play with impeccable quality and there is no inner groove distortion. Great work from Trower and overall Mint- is deserved.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'A Christmas Camel' has three dull sounding ticks at the start of the intro but they are very quiet. Brooker's opening vocal section then plays perfectly with no intrusion. Trower's solo during the mid instrumental plays with superb audio and the final vocal / instrumental plays with stunning precision also. The vast majority is Mint but because of the three light ticks I will grade as Near Mint
The intro on 'Kaleidoscope' has no background and the first vocal is just as clean. It continues to play with real quality and again there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static. A powerful number with deep rich audio there is no distortion on the top end. The instrumental passages are very much led by Fisher and they sound fantastic! Mint-
The piano intro on 'Salad Days (Are Here Again)' is flawless and the opening vocal is more or less the same with only a couple of barely audible statics. Seriously...barely audible! From then on every vocal and instrumental section play with sublime quality, no issue at all and another Mint- version.
The brief 'Good Captain Clack' plays with great quality although the 'main' vocal is perhaps not as clear as it should be. Is this down to how it was recorded? Or a mono record being played through a stereo system? I'm not sure but the audio is still very impressive and there is no interference. Near Mint
Fisher's opening piece on 'Repent Walpurgis' plays perfectly and there is only a very minimal amount of inner groove distortion for a few seconds as the volume increases. So minimal and I am probably shooting myself in the foot by even putting it here! The following solo from Trower is STUNNING as is the piano section that follows, there is just one mega quiet static. The remainder plays with genuine quality - yes a little distortion towards the end maybe but again if played as a mono record it might not be an issue. Not that it's an issue here because like I say it is so minor! Nonetheless this classic instrumental plays so well and I will say Near Mint even if that is a little harsh :-)
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The flipback cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear. The edges and thin pinched spine are so clean and the corners have hardly any wear either. The opening edge has very little handling wear and the laminated is superb with just one very small faint mark near the bottom left corner and a handful of minor laminate creases next to the spine and bottom edge. The back cover is of course unlaminated and is still very clean, the black background especially is stunning. The flipbacks have only minor marking in the two rounded corners. The top and bottom flipback edges have hardly any marking / staining and the right edge has only a minimal amount. A fine example overall.
The plain white inner sleeve has no side splits or tears, hardly any marking and only light creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
