Description
This is a beautiful pressing of a great prog psych LP entitled - 'Shine On Brightly' by the great Procol Harum. It is their second album and this is a stereo pressing. This LP was originally released in 1968 on the UK Regal Zonophone label (catalogue no. SLRZ 1004). The album features the brilliant keyboard and vocals of Gary Brooker as well as the powerful lead guitar of Robin Trower. As far as I know this is a first pressing of this stereo version.
OUTER SLEEVE - This is a flipback type which is laminated on the front and is in lovely condition. There is some minor wear and creasing on the front as well as some almost invisible marks. The top and bottom edges are in lovely condition with no damage. The spine is in great condition and the wording along the spine is 100% readable. The flipbacks are in great condition with some very minor wear and creasing. The rear of the sleeve is superb and shows very minor wear. It states on the rear of the sleeve in the top right hand corner - 'File under POPULAR : Pop Groups - SLRZ 1004 - stereo'. The sleeve notes are written by Paul Williams of Crawdaddy magazine. It states at the bottom of the rear sleeve - 'E.M.I. RECORDS (The Gramophone Company Ltd) HAYES - MIDDLESEX - ENGLAND. It states in the bottom rear right hand corner - '6811 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending LRZ 1004 SLRZ 1004'. I have graded the sleeve Ex++.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a plain white paper sleeve with no polythene lining.
RECORD - The record itself looks very clean with some very superficial minor marks which do not affect the quality of the recording. There is almost no surface. There are occasional very minor pops and clicks but these definitely do not detract from the overall quality of the record. There are definitely no jumps or skips on any of the tracks. The labels are in lovely condition with some minor spindle marks. There is no damage to the labels on either side. These are red with silver wording and they feature the original REGAL ZONOPHONE logo. It states at the top of each label - 'MADE IN GT. BRITAIN - The Gramophone Co. Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performances, broadcasting and copying of this record prohibited'. The matrix numbers (YCARX.49 - side one - and YCARX.50 - side two) are printed on the left side of each label. At the bottom of each label it states - 'Produced by Denny Cordell for Straight Ahead Productions - A New Breed Production'. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - YCARX 49 - 1 (stampers 2 P) - side two - YCARX 50 -1 (stampers 1 A1). I have graded the record as Ex++ and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and conservatively as possible and I never grade anything as mint. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed. All my items are 100% guaranteed and can be returned for a full refund if the buyer is not satisfied with the product.
