Up for auction is a highly collectible and prized Prewar Blues 78 RPM record by the Memphis Jug Band on the Victor Records label (21657). The A side tune is titled PEACHES IN THE SPRINGTIME, and the B side tune is titled EVERGREEN MONEY BLUES. The A side tune was recorded in Memphis on February 13, 1928, and the B side tune was recorded in Memphis on February 1, 1928.
The shellac receives a grade of V+, as there are the usual surface scratches that one sees on a record that has been played a lot, as well as a chip on the edge of the A side at 3:00 o'clock, which does not affect the sound whatsoever. The labels receive a grade of V+, due to the faded letters in the title and loss of paper on the outer edge of the B side label, but both labels are actually in very nice condition for a record that is 81 years old. The sound receives a grade of V+, due to the usual surface noise that one hears on a 78 RPM record that has been played quite a bit. However, the singers and the instruments are clear, and can be easily heard over the surface noise, and both songs play through without skipping...you will thoroughly enjoy the lyrics and the arrangements of both songs. This ultra rare Prewar Blues 78 RPM record rarely comes up for sale on eBay, and when it does, it is usually in worse condition than this beauty.

While wiping this record with a soft cloth, a small piece of the shellac, which was apparently loose, separated from the edge of the B side at 5:30, but it does not affect the sound of the song whatsoever. The part of the chip that is nearest to the grooves is 1/32 of an inch from the first groove, so there is no problem with placing the needle on the record before that music begins. I tried to add an image of the chipped area, but I was not able to. I assure you that the rest of the shellac on the record is solid, as I inspected it very carefully.
