Description

CONDITION: EXCELLENT, this is the original 1939 issue on 12" shellac of BLUE NOTE 3 from the label's original NEW YORK location at 235 7th Ave., and the very first time that the label recorded a band as the previous releases of BN-1 and BN-2 were boogie-woogie piano men, Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons -- here is featured Blue Note’s first group from a recording session on April 7th, 1939, who included Frankie Newton on trumpet, J.C. Higginbotham on trombone, Albert Ammons piano, on guitar, Teddy Bunn, Johnny Williams on bass, and drummer Sidney Catlett. “Mighty Blues” and “Rocking the Blues” were released as Blue Note 3, other songs from the April 7th session like “Port of Harlem Blues” were released later on Blue Note 14 and other records, this is a 12" 78 rpm record -- please see photos for overall condition -- appears rarely played with only a few cosmetic flaws.

Will be securely packed in new 14x14x4 box with cardboard stiffeners and floating in a paper fill.
