The attractive sleeve is in itself a typical work of art from the 50's, featuring on its back portraits of Joe Turner, La Vern Baker, Clyde McPhatter, Ruth Brown, Ray Charles, and the Clovers. It has a little dust, some ligth wrinkles and the name of owner on back; no tears no split: it is in an excellent condition.
The record is in excellent condition too, with very light surface wear on the beginning of each side, but no surface noise on the music: the two sides still have their original powerful sound.
On this single, his first, issued in 1957 under the name of Pretty Boy, Don Covay sings two of his own songs, backed by a great R'n'R/R'n'B soulful band:
Paper Dollar is a plaintive muscled ballad, Bip Bop Bip is a frantic black rock'n'roll track.
