Across The Great Divide kicked off officially with the first show rocking the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and showing exactly why this will be a tour no one will want to miss! The last time they shared a Novocastrian stage was back in 1994 when both bands supported Pantera…this time around they showed all exactly what they are made of!
Powderfinger's new single, ‘I Don't Remember’ also goes to Australian radio this week. Taken from their brand new double platinum album ‘Dream Days at the Hotel Existence’, ‘I Don't Remember’ is classic Powderfinger - written during pre-production when the band landed in Los Angeles to record. Quoted during the making of the song in January 2007, Bernard Fanning said "It's a song about making mistakes and trying to reconcile what they were - but then in the end, in the wash up - it doesn't really matter whose fault it was, as long as it gets reconciled".
Silverchair rolled into Young Modern Station starting with the title track of their latest album and ending with their classic Freak, with a whole lot of carriages in between of new songs and old favourites. Then Powderfinger roared through a Thrillology of a set playing the first song off their new album Dream Days at the Hotel Existence and ending with favourite These Days. Emotion was high when Bernard performed Black Tears to a silent crowd. “Wow, what an audience to kick off the tour... Bring it on” Bernard Fanning said as he came off stage.
‘Reflections of a Sound’, the second single from Silverchair's #1 album ‘Young Modern’, will be released digitally on Saturday July 14. The track is bundled with live versions of ‘Straight Lines’ and ‘Mind Reader’ from the group's Carriage works Album Launch. The iTunes bundle also includes an exclusive live version of ‘Luv Your Life’. The song’s accompanying video is very much a talking piece and is currently receiving significant TV airplay right across the country.
