POPOL VUH – Seligpreisung. Wah Wah Records LPS 119. Spanish release. NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1973. This edition issued in 2013. Remastered from the original master tapes and pressed on high quality vinyl. Features include a laminated gatefold cover replicating the original cover art along with a liner note/photo insert and a color poster insert; comes housed in a clear outer mylar resealable sleeve; as shipped by the label. Limited to 500 copies. NOTE:  The point of sale sticker on the front of the clear mylar outer sleeve lists Djong Yun on vocals, however she appears only on the bonus track which was included on SPV’s early CD edition of this album. The details for this release do not include the mention of a bonus track (a similar discrpency can also found on the point of sale sticker for the In Den Gärten Pharaos release in this series); as this is “as shipped by the label” I have not opened it up, any comments on this are greatly appreciated.  MUSICIANS:  Florian Fricke (piano, cembalo, vocal), Daniel Fichelscher (electric guitar, drums, conga), Conny Veit (electric guitar, 12-string guitar), Klaus Wiese (tamboura), and Robert Eliscu (oboe). DESCRIPTION:  The fourth LP by Popol Vuh was originally released on the Kosmische Musik label in 1973, a sister label of Herr Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser’s Pilz label. It follows the religious theme of its predecessor. Conny Veit still participates, but this time as a guest. This album also introduces the second most important Popol Vuh member after Fricke:  ex Amon Düül II drummer Daniel Fichelscher. Not only does he perform most of the percussion duties, but he also contributes on guitar as well. As opposed to the previous Hosianna Mantra album, this is a much more refined and accomplished album that will grow on you with repeated plays. The mystical/spiritual overtones developed in Hosianna are just as strong here, but this has a more atomospheric and intimate mood. Again the highly meditative and contemplative music is very calm and soft on athmospheres, but never shallow. The mix between the ethnic (mainly Indian) percussion with fairly solemn, but relaxed, piano and guitar lines provide a soothing feel, kind of like an aural rubbing of your temples under stress. A pinnacle of achievement where the result matches the conception. Reissued from the master tapes in a quality vinyl pressing, laminated gatefold cover, and featuring an insert with liners and photos along with an additional full color poster insert. Limited to 500 copies worlwide.

Wah Wah proudly presents the ultimate reissue series of the Popol Vuh discography (these include the first 5 Popol Vuh albums at present), made in coperation with Florian Fricke's family and SPV:  High quality pressings, most with rare bonus tracks, all include inserts with liners & rare period photos, high quality laminated gatefold and single pocket covers that faithfully reproduce the original artwork, and remastered from the original tapes __ top class legit editions for one of the big names in Kraut music. Popol Vuh, the name, comes from the Mayan civilization and is the title of a corpus of mytho-historical narratives and writings of the Post Classic K'iche' kingdom in Guatemala's western highlands which tells the story of (their) creation. The title translates as Book of the Community, Book of Counsel, or more literally as Book of the People. Popol Vuh, the group, led by pianist and keyboardist Florian Fricke, was formed in 1969 and stayed active until Fricke's death in 2001. In 1969 Fricke joined forces with Holger Trülzsch (percussion) and Frank Fielder (synthesizer, recording engineer and technical assistance) and they soon became one of the most interesting bands of Kraut music's avant-garde, being pioneers in sounds that have later been categorized as ambient music, space / cosmic music or New Age music. From 1973, and for many years onward, former Amon Düül II drummer and guitarist Daniel Fischelscher became his main musical partner. Fricke also produced many soundtrack works for the movies of Werner Herzog.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

RETURN POLICY:

It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
