RED ROSES FOR ME
The Pogues - vocalist Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy on tin whistle, accordion player James Fearnley, Jeremy “Jem” Finer on banjo, drummer Andrew David Ranken, and bassist Cait O’Riordan — made their debut in 1984 with Red Roses For Me. The album’s 13 songs established the band’s unique sound as it mixed MacGowan's radical originals - “Transmetropolitan” and “Dark Streets Of London” - with traditional Irish tunes - “The Auld Triangle” and “Poor Paddy.” This 180g vinyl reissue of Red Roses For Me uses the 2013 remix from the original multi-track tapes by Nick Robbins who was the original engineer of the album.
PEACE AND LOVE
The band's second consecutive Steve Lillywhite production following predecessor If I Should Fall from Grace with God, Peace & Love was released in 1989 and reached #5 on the U.K. Album chart. Its 14 tracks include Shane MacGowan's potent originals - “White City” and “London You’re A Lady” - augmented with remarkable contributions by other members including Jeremy “Jem” Finer's “Misty Morning, Albert Bridge,” Philip Chevron’s “Lorelei,” and Terry Woods’ “Gartloney Rats.” This 180g vinyl reissue of Peace & Love uses the 2013 remix from the original multi-track tapes by Lillywhite.
HELL'S DITCH
Produced by Joe Strummer of The Clash, The Pogues’ final studio album with Shane MacGowan, Hell's Ditch, was released in 1990. Strummer would also serve as a temporary replacement for MacGowan on the band's subsequent tour. The 13-song collection includes the dreamy blues waltz of “Summer In Siam,” as well as a pair of songs inspired by literary legends Jean Genet and Federico Garcia Lorca - the title track and “Lorca’s Novena,” respectively. This 180g vinyl reissue of Hell's Ditch uses 2004 remastered audio and includes the original printed inner bag.
POGUETRY IN MOTION (EP)
Recorded with Elvis Costello who also produced the band's classic album Rum Sodomy & The Lash the year prior, the Pogues' 1986 EP Poguetry In Motion includes the four tracks - “London Girl,” “The Body Of An American,” “Rainy Night In Soho,” and the traditional “Planxty Noel Hill” - material that matches its predecessors infectious urgency and ranks among the group's finest. This reissue of Poguetry In Motion EP uses 2004 remastered audio and features the original artwork designs and is pressed on limited edition red colored vinyl.
