Description
Sterling in DEAD WAX
Truly historic, collectible and groundbreaking record. Vinyl like this is as much an investment as it is an enjoyment. I found another copy (not as nice), so this one is for sale.
Sire ( ABC ) SASD-7520
Vinyl:
I was shocked, that I was the first person to spin this record and I did so once (today). The record is silent, with no background noise, pops clicks or crackles that I could hear. I felt significant resistance when placing over spindle, and there are no marks around spindle. There is, however, on side A, a perfectly straight superficial "line" running from the center of the record, straight to the edge. It may be from the pressing, it does not look man-made, and does not affect sound or playability. There are also some faint superficial scratches on side A and B. I could hear no audible trace from theses imperfections. The vinyl is glossy, but not perfect, there is no spindle wear and no marks around spindle. Sound is 10/10.
Having said all that, this record has not been mechanically or professionally cleaned and would benefit from careful cleaning. I would recommend this to get the most from this vinyl.
Cover and Inner Sleeve: VG to VG+ Cover and Inner sleeve intact but show some wear. Bottom right corner is smushed and inner sleeve has some "ripples" in the sleeve. Both are bright, clean and do not smell. Not a cut out or punch out this is the real deal. Bottom seam of cover show some separation as well.
I have provided a new plastic inner liner and outer cover for the vinyl. It will ship in a record box.
Condition is subjective, please spend a moment or two to zoom in and decide for yourself if this is a record you wish to invest in. Also, I am not a professional grader or seller, I do my best to describe the condition and anything that stands out. To truly enjoy this record get an original copy, original mix and in a condition that does not compromise the sonics and provides full range sound. Get a copy, like this, that you can actually listen to at a Rockin' volume.
Pictures taken both with and without flash. In person colors really pop and look right. No fading, smell etc.
Not a re-issue, Original And Vintage recording.
See feedback, I have not had a record returned EVER, for any reason. I do not over-hype condition.
3.99 SHIPPING TO US (lower 48) in professional slim record box, not in an envelope via media mail. Each box costs me $1, I do not skimp on shipping records.
I will ship worldwide - send a question for a quote. Worldwide shipping is not free. Shipping is $19 to Europe. I sell to only select international buyers and countries at my discretion. I ship on Saturdays.
No returns due to rare and fragile nature of record.
From the terrible truth about audio:
Here's a news flash: Records Don't Suck. Since the dawn of the CD engineers have been trying to build a player that can make them sound as good as a record. This is true. Generally speaking, the BEST a cd will ever be made to sound is how the same thing would sound on vinyl. Now, nobody knows what the future holds as far as media goes, but for the forseeable future that's it. Vinyl sounds like the "real" thing because well, it IS the real thing. It only got noisy because you didn't clean it and take care of it right. (see my write up about that for more info) You can even check the lie by listening to CD's from the 80's against cd's from now. You'll find the ones from the 80's sound horrible in comparison to ones made now. (players from then are bad as well) But didn't they tell us all they were perfect back then? They sure did. Amazing how they keep managing to improve something that was supposedly perfect.
