It was released in 1987 on the 'Hughes Music/MCA Records' label (cat. no. MCA-6223) and comes in a card picture sleeve with a plastic inner.




Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a 1987 American comedy film written, produced, and directed by John Hughes. It stars Steve Martin as Neal Page, a high-strung marketing executive, and John Candy as Del Griffith, a goodhearted but annoying shower curtain ring salesman. They share a three-day odyssey of misadventures trying to get Neal home to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving with his family.


Planes, Trains and Automobiles marked a widely noticed change in the repertoire of John Hughes. It was greeted with critical acclaim upon release, a revelation in that Hughes was, until then, considered a teen angst filmmaker, with movies such as Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. The critics also praised the perfomances of both Martin and Candy.



The soundtrack to Planes, Trains and Automobiles features a mix of rock and roll, country and pop. Among the tracks are cover versions of 'Red River Rock' (aka 'Cowboy Love Song') by UK new-wave band Silicon Teens, 'Back In Baby's Arms' (Patsy Cline) by Emmylou Harris and a specially-recorded version of the truckin' classic 'Six Days On The Road' by Steve Earle & The Dukes. More contemporary pop songs include 'Modigliani (Love In Your Eyes)' by NYC-based synth-pop band Book Of Love and 'Power To Believe' by British group The Dream Academy.












The sleeve is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear. It does have a very small cut-out in it, common with US import releases. The vinyl is unmarked, new and unplayed.
