BALEK / PHALENE II ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by PLACEBO. Original Belgian 1st pressing on the CBS label (CBS 1647), from 1973. Holy grail funk from Belgium by the legendary group led by Marc Moulin. This is the original and his most elusive release featuring the best theme from the Placebo 1973 Lp session. Stoned and ultra-sleazy funk with fender rhodes / spaced-out synthesizers / stabbing jazz horns / fender bass / fragmented percussion and killer hip hop drum patterns on the insanely good BALEK theme. Arguably, the pinnacle sound of Marc Moulin's Placebo group and hotter than hot on original 7-inch format ;) The beautiful and exotic PHALENE II theme is mellow fender rhodes jazz with relaxed, modal-esque horns and shimmering sea shells / bells over hypnotic hip hop drums. Both sides have that "Je ne sais quoi" groove to die for ;) Great for DJs. Booming production sound. Original 4-prong centre intact. Seldom comes up for sale in nice condition, like our copy. Striking artwork design sleeve too. Very rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition with a few hairlines and faint scuffs. Booming production sound. Light surface noises. Some soft pops / ticks (as you can hear on the soundclip). The textured, soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition overall with ring creasing and some ink fading from storage. Rubbed-out, faint archive number in pen to front sleeve (beside "Placebo" name) / corner and edge wear. Very rare 45!!!
