GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : il film è di produzione Italo Spagnola e dovrebbe far pensare a un tardo spaghetti western, visto che siamo nel 1978. In realtà c'è dentro molta America a partire dal regista Monte Hellman, passando poi ad un secondo regista, Sam Peckinpah, quello per intenderci del film "Il Mucchio Selvaggio", qui in veste d’attore ed ancora Warren Oates, uno dei protagonisti del film, e la presenza nella colonna sonora della cantante e attrice Ronee Blakley, celebre tra l'altro per essere stata una delle protagoniste nel film di Altman "Nashville" dove viene uccisa mentre canta sul palco e per la sua collaborazione con Bob Dylan soprattutto nell’album "Desire". Con questi presupposti è naturale che il film si stacchi dagli ormai esauriti stereotipi nostrani. Ugualmente avviene nella colonna sonora grazie all'intelligenza compositiva di Donaggio che elimina del tutto quel pathos epico e drammatico che aveva contraddistinto le musiche di tantissimi altri film spaghetti western. Questo avviene con l'inserimento di ottimi brani country-folk e alcuni temi romantici con il sapore dei classici western made in USA.  "Tema di Clayton" (a1 e con variazioni in b2) è caratterizzato dal suono dell'armonica accompagnata dalla chitarra acustica, "La Sorgente dell'Amore" (a2 e con variazioni in b4) è un tema romantico di ampio respiro e bella armonie melodiose, "Saloon" (a3 e b4) si basa interamente su un assolo "ragtime" del pianoforte, dall'andamento più vivace nella prima versione, "Al Confine Messicano" (a6) ha un buon ritmo con la chitarra elettrica che crea una simpatica atmosfera country. "China 9 Love Ballade" (b1) è una bella canzone country-folk interpretata da Ronee Blakley in Inglese con un accompagnamento musicale dallo sviluppo moderato. "Finale" (b6) è guidato da una buona chitarra country con l'armonica in sottofondo.

Notes : the movie is an Italo-Spanish co-production and should suggest a late spaghetti western, since we are in 1978. In fact there is a lot of America starting with director Monte Hellman, to whom follows another director, Sam Peckinpah, the one to be clear of "The Wild Bunch", here as an actor and still Warren Oates, one of the protagonists, and the presence in the soundtrack of the singer and actress Ronee Blakley, famous among other things for being one of the stars in "Nashville" by Altman where she is murdered while singing on stage and for her collaboration with Bob Dylan especially in the album "Desire". With these assumptions, it is natural that the film moves away from the Italian exhausted stereotypes. Same is true of the soundtrack thanks to the compositional intelligence of Donaggio who completely eliminates the epic and dramatic pathos that had characterized the music of many other films from the same nature. This comes by inserting fine country-folk tracks and some romantic melodies with the flavor of the classic western movies. "Tema di Clayton" (a1 and with variations in b2)) is characterized by the sound of the harmonica accompanied by an acoustic guitar, "La Sorgente dell'Amore" (a2 and with variations in b4) is a romantic theme from great scope and beautiful melodious harmonies, "Saloon" (a3 and b4) is based entirely on a solo of a ragtime piano from more vibrant development in the first version, "Al Confine Messicano" (a6) has a good rhythm with the electric guitar which gives life to a nice country music atmosphere. "China 9 Love Ballade" (b1) is a beautiful country-folk song performed by Ronee Blakley in English with music accompaniment by moderate development. "Finale" (b6) is led by an excellent country guitar with the harmonica in the background.

Un buon film western crepuscolare coprodotto da Italia e Spagna. Regia di Monte Hellman, con Fabio Testi, Jenny Agutter, Warren Oates, Sam Peckinpah e Franco Interlenghi.
