Pink Floyd, The Wall.

1979 UK Harvest Records 2 x LP set housed in gatefold sleeve, SHDW 411.

First UK pressing with the following issue points:

  • Band members are not listed on the inside cover. It only says "Words and Music - Roger Waters. Except..." and "Produced By David Gilmour, Bob Ezrin, Roger Waters". Re-pressings added band member credits and had other minor alterations.

  • No bar code on the back cover.

  • The Wall is cream coloured, not true white. The bricks on the front cover are not aligned right to the bottom of the cover on the outside or inside.

  • Sleeve variant is a single sheet of wrap-around cardboard with the seam across the inner top edge of the cover.

  • Thick card lyric inner sleeves feature rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch at the top; sides 2 and 4 have the catalog number (SHDW 411), pressing number (OC-158 63410), and the record number (SHSP 4111) in the lower right corner.

  • A-2U / B-3U / A-3U / B-2U matrix suffixes.

    Visually vinyl varies from top end VG plus to EX. Close inspection with a magnifying glass reveals little spindle activity. The surfaces are all still very glossy and display just a few light scuffs and very lightly impressed hairline scratches, nothing severe enough to produce ticks or clicks.

    This is a tough set to find which plays without some background however. In this instance playback of the first disc is VG with some background crackle, not overbearing. Disc two is somewhat cleaner and grades VG plus to EX with just marginal crackle.

    Labels are clean and undefaced.

    Inner sleeves at least EX plus with no marks or seam splits and just fractional disc impression.

    External gatefold sleeve close to EX with just fractional signs of storage rubbing and ringwear darkening. Generally clean throughout, spine completely intact. Fractional bump to bottom right corner.

    Note that this sleeve does not have the transparent title sticker present.
