The Wall (Very Early Pressing)

This classic album plays with superb sound quality as detailed below and the original 'first press' gatefold is in fabulous condition as are the lyric sleeves.

These vinyls have obviously been very well looked after as they show hardly any 'wear' despite being 40 years old.  There are a small number of very faint hairlines on S1, a slightly more obvious one on track 1, but they have no affect on the sound quality.  S2 again has only a minimal number of very faint wispy sleeve removal hairlines.  Whilst both have a lovely glossy sheen the second vinyl is absolutely stunning and looks almost as new.  I cannot detect any hairlines under a strong light and it is visually in perfect condition.  There is some spindle wear on each side although not a great deal and the run out grooves also remain spotlessly clean.

Play grading  

The audio on S1 is of a superb standard.  There are some light ticks during 'Another Brick In The Wall P1' but aside from that the clarity on the side is first class and plays almost as new.  'Another Brick In The Wall P2'  plays with perfect precision and grades as Near Mint such is the astounding quality.  This applies to the vast majority of the side in fact.  'Mother' is a fine example of a quiet track playing with exemplary audio.  There is only a touch of two second static near the beginning and one light click and the remainder impresses with beautiful audio.

'Goodbye Blue Sky' on S2 plays very clearly but with a small number of dust ticks on the intro and a couple of clicks.  The remainder of the side has very clear audio with only a hint of static now and then but nothing that is intrusive.  The long quiet intro on 'Don't Leave Me Now' for the vast majority plays with excellent audio and only a hint of 'background' in a couple of places.  Yes there are 4/5 light clicks on this side but there are many sections that play with Near Mint quality.

'Hey You' on S3 is simply sublime and rarely have I heard this track play so perfectly on such an early pressing.  There are a couple of light clicks on the fade out but aside from that the clarity and depth is astounding.  This is a side that has many quiet sections but the quality here deserves a listen!  There is hardly any 'background' and it plays with near perfection.  'Is There Anybody Out There' and 'Nobody Home' are classic examples of this and play practically with Mint audio.  'Comfortably Numb' ends the side with stunning quality again.  No static, crackle, clicks or pops it is sheer poetry in motion!  Even the guitar solo plays fantastically well which is a rarity as often on the first/early pressings it has some distortion.  Not here!

There is no need to go into detail defining the qualities of S4.  Suffice to say that it plays to an incredible standard and the only 'background' I heard was a half second static sound on 'Stop'.  Aside from that the audio is stunning and again plays as if pressed yesterday.  'Outside The Wall' ends this classic album with superlative quality again.

Cover

The cream coloured gatefold has the misaligned bricks and no band members listed on the inside as per the first pressings.  It is in wonderful condition with hardly any shelf wear.  The edges and wide spine remain in perfect shape and even the corners have very little rubbing and there is just one small crease near the bottom of the spine on the front cover.  Notoriously difficult to keep clean this one has retained its 'whiteness' superbly well with only a couple of very small faint marks and the inside is in immaculate condition and looks as new.  The opening edges have only minor handling wear.  Overall this is a superb gatefold and rarely found in this condition today. 

Lyric sleeves

They are both in impeccable condition with no wear and no splits or marking at all.  Two of the best I have ever seen.

The labels

They are very clean with no marking or writing and not a great deal of spindle wear.
