PINK FLOYD 'THE WALL' 1979 X2 LP.
UK first press released on Harvest SHDW 411.
Matrix codes:
Side 1: SHSP 4111 A-2U
Side 2: SHSP 4111 B-3U
Side 3: SHSP 4112 A-3U
Side 4: SHSP 4112 B-3U
VISUAL:
When tilted under normal lighting side 1 has scratch which runs across half the side to the dead wax from about 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock, side appears to be unmarked. Side 3 has x2 "non-feely" visible surface scratches, side 4 appears unmarked .
Under halogen lights all 4 sides have just a few more short, light marks visible.
The side 3 label has a split across it which probably happened during pressing.
AUDIO:
Sides 1 & 2 play grade as EX-/EX.
Side 1 has a little faint crackle in the first few seconds and just a little brief, faint surface noise in places and there are a 'tics' during the first third of 'Mother'. Side 2 plays really well all the way through.
Sides 3 & 4 both have problems with a 'static' like sound that runs, on and off, through the first 6 minutes of side 3 and the first 8 minutes of side 4. It is loudest at the start of each side and gradually fades so that it is very faint before it disappears [although the more sensitive systems may pick it up more loudly]. there are no marks visible that would cause this but I have read that this can be caused by the inner surface of the cardboard inners rubbing against the vinyl surface.
The rest of both sides play as EX- as they have a couple of 'clicks' in a couple of places.
Both LPs are now kept in plain white inners.
Gatefold sleeve grades as EX.
Has only 1 seam which is at the top edge of the sleeve. Has "produced by David Gilmour" in the 8th. brick down from the top and "Music and Words by Roger Waters Except etc........" in the 9th. brick down.
Lyric inner sleeves, with the thumb notches at the top, grade as EX.
No splits, tears or creases, just a little very light wear in the centre of the bottom edges.
Both lyric inners have the tracks listed differently to the record labels. Side 2 lists 'What Shall We Do Now?' as track 2 and 'Empty Spaces' as track 6 whereas the label has 'Empty Spaces' as track 2 and doesn't list 'What Shall We Do Now?' at all.
Side 3 has 'Hey You' as track 5 whereas on the label it is track 1.
The clear acetate sticker that originally came attached to the shrink wrap is still attached to some of the wrap but has some creases in the bottom right corner.
I dispatch records in brand new, bought in mailers designed for the process. Before placing in the mailer I take LPs out of the sleeve place both in a polysleeve and between two card stiffeners and if there is a picture sleeve I place the LP in a plain sleeve to prevent knifing of the picture sleeve. [all this costs £0.80/single LP].
I USE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADINGS AND USE A +/- WHERE I FEEL THAT IT'S APPROPRIATE.
(M) MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be mint.
(EX) EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of being played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.
(VG) VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
(G) GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
(F) FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
(P) POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
(B) BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
I normally ship within 1/2 working days of receipt of payment.
