Just look at those matrix numbers... You are about to bid on a very, very special record. It is a record that in my opinion is harder to find as a true complete UK 1st pressing than even the solid blue prism label Dark Side of The Moon UK 1st press. It is a stunning Near Mint Unplayed example of the earliest UK 1st pressing of 'Wish You Were Here'. A truly amazing record worthy of only the most serious Pink Floyd collection. As so many copies of this record were pressed worldwide, sorting out the very rare UK 1st pressing amidst all the later & foreign pressings has become extremely confusing, especially as there are so many sellers who delight in deliberately trying to pass off later re-presses as 'UK 1st pressings'. Please read on as I am going to describe what makes this record so vary rare... Aside from being what is the ONLY MINT UNPLAYED A1//B3 copy I have ever seen, there are a number of other features that identify this record as a truly special record worthy of inclusion on my eBay pages.
Firstly let's begin with that A1/B3 matrix. This is as early as it gets for this record. I regularly see eBay sellers trying to pass of records with later matrix as 1st pressings. The bottom line is that if it does not have an A//1 matrix on Side 1 then it is not a UK 1st pressing! The matrix numbers go very high on this record. So many copies were pressed that you regularly see them as high as A14//B16 Matrices and above. Finding a record with as A//1 matrix is almost impossible, believe me I have spent a very long time looking! This record also comes complete with the correct 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse postcard that only came with the 1st issue. This has the serrated edge to it and the correct centre text reading; 'Album sleeve insert for Pink Floyd. Wish You Were Here. Harvest. EMI Records Ltd. SHVL 814'. All other non- serrated postcards omitting this text are either from later UK repressings or are non UK. I have given you a detailed breakdown on the condition below, but the bottom line is that this is the real deal; the earliest 1975 UK A//1 B//3 1st pressing of 'Wish You Were Here' that you are ever likely to see - and it is highly probable that you will never see another mint unplayed copy of this rare record. Worth pushing the boat out for....
An mentioned above, this vinyl is in stunning immaculate condition!!! The Classic 1st press Blue/Silver stereo unboxed Decca centre labels are in pristine Near Mint condition with NO Tears, NO Peeling, NO Grubbyness, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!! There are NO spindle alignment lines at all on either label! This record has never been played before!!! The gramophone rims containing the all-important 1st press Matrix are also obviously Mint!!!
As described above - the thick & chunky 1st press vinyl itself is in Stunning Nr Mint Unplayed condition!!! There are NO Hairlines, NO Scratches, NO Groovewear, NO warping, in fact - NO blemishes at all - not ever a paperline!!! I have to keep reminding myself that I am describing a 40 year old record here, not one made last week!!! I can say nothing else about this chunky 1st press record - it's absolutely perfect and Near Mint!!! This vinyl is a museum quality piece. These A1//B3 1st pressings were straight from the masters and nothing even gets close to them today, especially when you find one in this kind of pristine audio condition! They play with a very loud punchy but also deep clear warm chiming clarity and have to be heard to be believed! This is the best pressing you will hear and is far, far superior to the more common later repressings. Absolutely beautiful!!! The thick quality pressed chunky 1960's vinyl looks and feels great (it is very heavy!).
The 1st press Garrod & Lofthouse unlaminated sleeve is in unblemished condition (again very rare, as these sleeves are prone to severe grubbiness and discolouration). There are no unwanted writing or scribbles, a nice clean spine with Near Mint legible spine text. Check out the images below, this this sleeve grades a s a very strong Excellent. As this is such a superb copy I can't let it go without a quick mention of the amazing artwork on this album; having a copy so clean brings a whole new dimension to the awesome imagery contained on the black wrapper, sleeve, inner and labels. It is a testament to the band but also a great shame that Wish You Were Here contains images that are now so well embedded in popular culture that their meaning is often overlooked. And it's especially amazing to think that the band originally wanted this mind-blowing artwork to be shrouded in an anonymous, all-black plastic wrapper. Of course, this idea was rejected by EMI, who were appalled at the suggestion that they deliberately hide their product, so an additional image featuring the band name over top of two robotic hands in front of the four elements was included as the sticker on top (which, as mentioned above, is completely intact on this copy). Removing this outer wrapper then revealed the proper artwork with its now-famous cover: the flaming businessman, shaking hands with his counterpart (as in the robot image). Three other photographs on the back and inner sleeve represented the remaining elements: a faceless salesman selling Pink Floyd products in the desert (earth); a naked female figure in a grove, barely visible behind a windswept red veil (air); and a splash-less diver half submerged in Mono Lake (water). All four photos in this design appeared to have each element 'breaking' (or burning) into the surrounding white margins.
As mentioned above, the inner sleeve and postcard are both Near perfect. Not a blemish in sight. We all know how grubby the predominantly white artwork becomes on this album, so to find an original inner sleeve that is as brightly white as this is impossible, you will not be disappointed with this Inner! It also has NO seam splitting (again very common with his inner). The rare serrated edged 1st issue postcard is also in stunning Near Mint condition. An exceptional example
Please see below for an overview of our strict packaging procedure - rest assured it will arrive to you in exactly the condition you see it now! The bottom line is that this is the absolute best unplayed vinyl pressing of the elusive UK A//1 B//3 1st of 'Wish You Were Here' that you will ever see - don't miss it!
This record is worthy of only the most serious Mint 1st press Pink Floyd collection. It is a very serious record indeed and the bidding will be high so bid early to avoid disappointment. Do not underestimate the rarity of this record as an A1//B3 UK 1st pressing in unplayed condition. **True** complete UK 1st press copies are impossible to find today. If you have never heard the UK 1st pressing of 'Wish You were Here', you are truly missing something very special. If you are a collector/investor, the price of this record will just rise and rise. An absolutely essential Pink Floyd UK 1st pressing. A very rare opportunity, don't miss this one!!!

Postage ... We have absolutely NO hidden surcharges; the price you win is the price you pay, just add the relevant postage, it's as simple as that! We always combine postage so if you win more than 1 auction you save money on postage costs! We will only ship to non-UK countries via Airmail - we do not use surface mail, it is way too slow and thus increases the risk of records being damaged during transit.
A little note about insurance - Please read carefully... If the value of your record(s) is over £30, your invoice will include an insured option. Being the responsible adults you are, it is entirely up to you to take this up - we strongly advise you to do this but will not hassle you about it. You either add the required insurance or you don't. If you do add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will get a refund. If you don't add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will not get a refund. Can we be any clearer? I think not.

Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards. If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...
We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
