Description

British rock and roll legends Pink Floyd released their tenth studio album in 1977. They named it 'Animals', and there's definitely some George Orwell type themes going on here, and this seems like it was (loosely) based on Orwell's novella 'Animal Farm'. It needed to be great, as it followed 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Dark Side of the Moon'. Two albums considered to be among the best in music history...

I really love 'Animals', and it's in my top five Floyd LPs of all time! It's great, and as usual for Floyd, a wild concept album. There are no hit singles here, but a couple of tracks standout (the entire thing is awesome, though). One of the best known songs on 'Animals' is the short acoustic pieces that start and end the album, called "Pigs on the Wing (Part One)" and "Pigs on the Wing (Part Two)". Guitarist David Gilmour recorded a sweet solo for this song (that's two parts), but it accidentally got erased. The band invited Thin Lizzy guitarist Snowy White to record a solo, and he did. Pink Floyd kept it, and added it to the 8-track tape version, (which combines both parts together), but left it off the vinyl version (and all other versions after that). The Snowy White version (with both parts combined) can be found on YouTube and other streaming services like Spotify. And Snowy's solo is amazing!

In 2016, and to prepare for the fortieth anniversary of this rock and roll masterpiece, a company in the UK released this as an EXTREMELY limited edition shaped picture disc vinyl record! What shape? A pink pig, of course! It comes in a special clear PVC sleeve with hype sticker and a basic black backing card. And what music is on here? The 8 track tape version, that combines both parts into one song! And yes, it's the rare Snowy White guitar solo version...

There's a crack, in the artwork, on the A side. It's under the grooves for the song. It feels smooth, so that's how I know it's under the grooves. I never played this, so I'm not exactly sure of the sound quality. (I don't play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records.) The crack is noticable, and can be seen on the pics. The same song is repeated on both sides. Other than the crack under the vinyl on the A side, this looks really good, and is mostly shiny and clean. Backing card looks pretty good. PVC jacket has a hype sticker on it. Jacket is split in three places. Sticker has info on it, and this is numbered. Number 243 out of 250. Millions of Pink Floyd fans all over the world, and only 250 of these made? What were they thinking? Lol

And of course I'll add a cool bonus! You'll get a copy of the October '05 issue of the UK's 'Classic Rock' magazine, with a fantastic cover story on Pink Floyd! It's several pages long, and comes with many pics. There's even articles on the Ozzy and Iron Maiden feud, the Black Crowes, Grand Funk, Bon Jovi, HIM, and more! This mag is awesome, and is big and heavy, and filled with cool stuff to read about. Even the ads are great! Mag is in really good condition. It's been read through a few times, but has no pages torn, ripped, or missing. No pages dog-eared, or handwritten on. The only thing I'm seeing is a little shelf-wear, mainly on the corners.

(RIP Rick Wright and Syd Barrett. You two were important and influential members of one of rock's greatest bands ever. You are both missed!)

A very rare and really cool Floyd vinyl collectible, that is seldom seen here on eBay, or the other vinyl selling sites, plus a cool mag added. These go fast, so if you're interested, you might want to make a move...soon. Don't wait too long, or this pink pig just might fly away, forever!
