Pink Floyd : Relics A1 / B2 1st Press
This first pressing on the blue EMI Starline label is practically 'as new'! The audio is so impressive and plays with a clarity that is second to none and has no interference as such just a few seconds of very minor static on S2. There are no clicks or pops! The vinyl is also visually stunning and has hardly ever been played. It looks 'shop fresh' it is that good!
The fully textured cover is in excellent condition with only a little minimal wear on the back and for once the original Starline label is included which happens to be in superb condition also.

Play grading
S1 begins with a stunning version of 'Arnold Layne' that plays 'as new' I can pay it no higher compliment. The clarity and depth of the audio here is exceptional and needless to say there are no clicks, pops, static or crackle. This is Mint in every sense of the word. Wow!
The classic 'Interstellar Overdrive' plays to the same 'high end' standard. There is no interference and again I cannot impress enough just how well it plays! There is so much 'going on' with this instrumental and yet the clarity and precision of the audio is second to none. It honestly sounds like it was pressed only yesterday! You can hear each note perfectly, there is no 'muddiness' to the sound, and even the quieter moments (not many of those!) play beautifully. There is no distortion and all I heard from start to finish was a handful of inconsequential dust ticks. The 'high octane' send section is STUNNING and if I've ever heard a better version I cannot remember when that was! Mint is an easy grade to give here.
'See Emily Play' more than keeps up this exemplary standard with audio that cannot be faulted...again! On a vinyl that has only be lightly played the definition of the audio really stands out and that is so obvious here. There is a greater depth somehow which is understandable as of course there is no groove wear and the bass is so strong and clear. Mint
The quiet intro on 'Remember A Day' has no 'background' and it continues in the same way. There are a couple of ticks right at the end of the fade out but by the track has practically finished but I will grade as Mint- just to be cautious!
'Paintbox' ends the side with outstanding quality and no inner groove distortion which is rare for any final track. A superb version which again leaves you amazed at the clarity on offer here. The piano end/fade out is a prime example of this - if you're lucky enough to win this album listen carefully to this section, it really is a stunning end. You know the grade :-)

If you're after a perfect rendition of the beautiful 'Julia Dream' then you have come to the right place. With only a couple of barely audible dust ticks this plays with STUNNING clarity and definition from the first groove to the last. A Mint track to start with.
The super quiet intro on 'Careful With That Axe, Eugene' plays with sensational clarity and again you just cannot beat the depth of the sound here. It plays superbly and as the volume increases there is no decrease in quality. The section including Gilmour's soaring solo in particular is so powerful. In saying that every section plays 'as new' with not one iota of interference. The quiet end section is a case in point - amazing clarity with no intrusion. I don't hand out a Mint grade lightly but why undersell it? I have been 'grading' for years now and know Mint audio when I hear it!
The very quiet intro on 'Cirrus Minor' is stunning! I've never heard the 'birdsong' and the 'cuckoo' so clearly! There are a couple of very light ticks just prior to the vocal but this is not intrusive and the vocals then play so well with no intrusion. It progresses in the same way which is so impressive for such a quiet track. There is perhaps just a touch of light static near the end but it is so minimal as to be hardly worth a mention. I will however grade as Near Mint just to be safe.
'The Nile Song' is as you would want it to be - loud and powerful with no distortion at all. A fantastic version that is Mint for sure.
'Biding My Time' has a some light static on the intro for just over 10 seconds but it is very quiet and totally non-intrusive. From then on it plays with great quality and the 'jazzy' section followed by Gilmour's solo is stunning in every way. This is a superb version which is 'as new' apart from the Ex intro which incidentally still plays very clearly. The rest is Mint I am pleased to say, the audio is of the highest calibre possible. Fabulous!
'Bike' ends this fine album with very impressive clarity, a rarity for this track. Barrett's vocal is very 'clean' and has barely any of the distortion that you so find and the quiet section near the end has hardly any static. The 'instrumental' ending has no interference, a superb Mint- version.
In summary this FINAL UPGRADE first pressing plays with wonderful clarity and depth and is without the finest version of its kind that I have ever heard. There is no obvious interference, no clicks or pops, and even the light static at the beginning of 'Cirrus Minor' is hardly obvious! This truly is a stunning album and any winning bidder will be blown away by the audio on offer here.
Visual grading
This vinyl is immaculate! It still has a jet-black glossy sheen and there are no marks or scratches at all. Having inspected it under a bright light and daylight I cannot detect any obvious hairlines either and in all honesty looks 'as new' straight of the record shop! There is only one spindle trace on S1 and only a couple on S2 and judging by that and the audio this has hardly ever been played. The run grooves are also in immaculate condition.
The Cover
The textured cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear. The edges and thin pinched spine have no rubbing and the corners are also in superb shape with barely any wear. The opening edge has no handling wear and has only a couple of minor 'waves' at the top. The front cover is incredibly clean with only a touch of ringwear and the back cover is in excellent shape but does have a small number of faint print type marks and a very minor 'wavy' look as if it might have been a little damp at some point. Like I say this is only very minor. Overall though a very clean example of this first press textured cover and not wrecked like so many!
The Inner Sleeve
The original EMI Starline inner is in great condition with no side splits and only a minimal amount of age related fading near the top edges. It has very little creasing also.
The Labels
The blue Starline labels are as close to Mint as could be. They have no marking or writing and only a couple of minor spindle traces. Stunning!
