THE PINK FLOYD

THE PIPER

AT THE GATES OF DAWN

1967 UK 1st PRESS BLUE/BLACK COLUMBIA

STEREO SCX 6157

YAX 3419-1(1-GD)

YAX 3420-1(1-T )

This is an extremely rare original 1967 uk 1st press stereo issue in excellent clean condition. The thick vinyl looks superb with just a few light wispy marks and hairlines and the original E.J.Day front laminated flip-back sleeve is in really amazing condition and still looks brand new. I am unsure of the history of original UK 1st press mono/stereo issues but blue/black Mono copies seem to way outnumber Stereo copies that surface for sale yet record collector states that Mono issues are rarer, i think they have got this wrong as original stereo issues very rarely surface for sale.

1967 UK 1st PRESS STEREO VINYL = EX

Both sides of the original thick pressed vinyl are in very clean playing condition and only display a few very light wispy marks and feint hairlines on each side, the vinyl actually looks in really superb EX+ condition as there are no nasty marks or deep scratches so there are no annoying loud pops or clicks, when played there is some occasional light crackle and just a few feint tics but this is pretty minor, what little surface noise there is may disappear with a professional deep clean.

BLUE/BLACK STEREO LABELS = EX

Both original 1st press blue/black Stereo Columbia labels are in great condition with minimal wear and marking, there are some spindle traces visible on both sides but these are only due to careful play.

E.J.DAY FRONT LAMINATED FLIP-BACK SLEEVE = MINT

The single front laminated Ernest J.Day flipback sleeve is in absolutely stunning condition and cannot really be faulted, the front lamination looks amazingly fresh and gleams as new and looks as good as the day of print, all edges and the spine are wear free and look superb. The three flip-backs are straight and strong and are in great shape with no faults, even the covers opening edge is in really excellent condition and is nice and straight and free of any creasing or feathering. This original 1967 E.J.Day front laminated flip-back cover really is just about perfect and it would be very difficult to find another in better condition than this.

EMI ADVERTISING INNER = EX

The album comes with it's original EMI advertising inner sleeve which is in excellent condition with minimal marking and ageing, at present i have the record stored in a new more vinyl friendly plain white poly-lined inner sleeve, both inners will be sent with the album to the winning bidder.

A really excellent original 1967 uk Stereo pressing of one of the best psych-rock albums ever recorded, this brilliant Pink Floyd debut is getting very hard to find in this condition. Soon i will be listing an original uk blue/black mono pressing, it's not quite in the same condition as this stereo issue but it's still in pretty good shape.
