Description

Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!

I specialize in 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between! I've been dealing records for years, but i'm quite new to the ebay game so i'd like to tell you all of my intentions. I travel all over the UK hunting out the VERY BEST records I can find. Obviously, 90%+ of the ones I can find are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? I offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!!

I'm going to start by listing 20 LP's a week, all timed to end 10 days later. Hopefully after a while, i'll be able to step things up a gear or two in good time. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZINGMOST IMPORTANTVERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I can ever possibly find!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).

I intend to become one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!

I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!

Title :  The Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Label & year : Original Columbia SX 6157 LP , UK Mono 1967 1st Press Vinyl!!!

Matrix's : Side A : YAX 3419 - 2 (1 G) , Side B : YAX 3420 - 1 (1 G).

1G 1G STAMPERS!!! One of the first 300 copies EVER pressed!!! No "File Under Pop" on the sleeve either!!! Impossibly rare to find one of these, Syd probably didn't even have a copy as early as this one!!!

About : Ultra rare Blue / Black UK day of release 1st Press!!! This psych classic sold barely anything as a Mono 1st Press (stereo was the new standard in '67) and had a very, very small run before being reissued on the black and white EMI label, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! This album is SURELY one of the best of all time. It has to be the best psychedelia i've ever heard. If you've never listened to it before, it's guaranteed to blow your mind!!! It certainly showed me just what sort of things are possible with sound. As you probably know, this original Mono Blue Black Columbia 1st Press is impossibly rare, even more so considering worldwide Pink Floyd collectors have snapped up most of them - so when one as early as this hits the market, it really is a moment to behold!!! Easily the greatest thing Pink Floyd ever did with every song bar one written by the genius of Syd Barrett, one of music's most notorious acid casualty's. We should be grateful that he wrote this masterpiece (I guess he didn't have to if he didn't want to!), one of THE greatest albums of all time. This original Mono mix is extra special. Mostly mixed by Syd, you've GOT to hear the "Ever So High" bit in Flaming in it's Mono form, it sounds truly incredible with Roger Waters Bass riff covered in echo!!! There's a number of other differences from the stereo version too such as a growling organ at the start of Interstellar Overdrive, and if you listen carefully to the mono mix of "Pow R. Toc H.", you can hear extra vocals such as a stoned Roger Waters howling with laughter!!! Syd was a true, true genius, and this was his genius album (with a little help from his friends of course!). Absolute timeless classic psychedelic rock LP from this incredible band!!! An astonishing album that really contains some of the best music EVER recorded by anyone, and DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP!!! If you like good music, bid now!!!

Tracklist : Astonomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Matlda Mother, Flaming, Pow R. Toc H., Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk, Interstellar Overdrive, The Gnome, Chapter 24, The Scarecrow, and Bike.

Musicians : Syd Barrett- Vocals / Lead Guitar, Roger Waters - Bass Guitar / Vocals, Rick Wright - Organ / Piano, Nick Mason - Drums, and Norman Smith - Producer.

Trivia : This was part of a collection of classic albums recorded in Abbey Road in the summer of 1967 - in the studio's next door, The Beatles were building Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and in the next one on The Pretty Things were building SF Sorrow! It's rumored that Syd did this Mono mix by making star shapes on the mixing desk!

The LP :

Labels :

Classic UK Original 1st Press blue black "KT" Columbia labels!!!. Both sides are GREAT with NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has a few mild signs of age such as a few light spindle marks, but that's about it!!! AWESOME for a 40 year old record!!! Both must grade overall as Very Good if not better!!!

Record : Visual -

Spectacular Thick UK 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks GREAT for it's age with NOTHING deep, NO nasty deep scratches whatsoever, and NO deep groove-breaking viscious scuffs either!!! The only blemishes are just a few mega light scuff marks, a few light hairlines and age marks here and there, and just some of the usual light wispy sleeve traces (only visible in direct angled light) from general use and where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Well used, but definitely AWESOME condition for a record of this age and rarity, an ultra thick quality 1st pressing which plays through with no trouble AT ALL!!! Must grade overall as Good++++ (just a shade off the VG region, nowhere near trashed) if not better!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!)   Record : Audio -    Thankfully, it plays BRILLIANTLY with fantastic mono blast and clarity!!! It really sounds great with NO hops, sticks, or skips!!! The only thing that lets it down is a few ugly hisses at the very start of Interstellar, but it soon passes, and the rest of the LP is totally distortion free!!! Other than that, only (like pretty much all records) has a bit of the usual low level mild "bluesman's fag" static crackle in places such as on the run in grooves and maybe the odd light non repetitive click here and there (NOT ugly - it sounds more like atmosphere, rather that the sound of bacon frying!!!) in few and far between places such as on some of the quieter sections, but it doesn't overshadow the music AT ALL!!! I'd even argue it gives it added soul!!! A hugely enjoyable listen, and a real treat to hear one of the first 300 EVER pressed!!! A true undiluted image of the master - the vast, vast, vast majority of the music is TRULY clear and LOUD!!! AMAZING for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audiably as Very Good minus if not better!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!)    Sleeve :

Original 1967 1st press front laminated flipback sleeve with no "File Under Pop"!!! Very hard to find this sleeve in ANYTHING approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn and worn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT, and still looks FANTASTIC, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO graffiti, NO splits, NO bad markings AT ALL, and still ULTRA strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has a few MILD signs of the usual ageing, such as some creases, a touch of ringwear, a small tear and a few signs of general age dulling to the unlaminated Syd designed back (no ugly coffee cup stains or anything like that), slight denting/rounding to the four corners which every vintage LP seems to have, and maybe one or two other ultra light signs of ageing here and there, but NOTHING that really stands out to note!!! And that's truly about it!!! I tend to talk it down, but this is in great condition for this sleeve!!! Believe me, to find this sleeve in condition as NICE as this, is REALLY hard!!! A FANTASTIC sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one like this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! It remains completely strong and solid, the iconic front kaleidoscope picture looks BRILLIANT and undulled, and even the spine remains strong, unsplit, solid, and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall as Good++++/Very Good minus if not better!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!)

Summary : An OUTSTANDING piece of history and a great playing example of this INCREDIBLY RARE classic LP!!! Near IMPOSSIBLE to find one of the first 300 in ANY condition, but UNBELIEVABLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS BRILLIANT AS THIS!!! YOU WILL NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!! Bid now!!!

Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it's truly appreciated!! Cheers!!!

I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional light mark and light use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!
