Description

Hi, and welcome to "psych_out!" auctions!!!

I specialize in 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between! I've been dealing records for years, but i'm quite new to the ebay game so i'd like to tell you all of my intentions. I travel all over the UK hunting out the VERY BEST records I can find. Obviously, 90%+ of the ones I can find are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? I offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!!

I'm going to start by listing 20 LP's a week, all timed to end 10 days later. Hopefully after a while, i'll be able to step things up a gear or two in good time. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZINGMOST IMPORTANTVERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I can ever possibly find!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).

I intend to become one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!

I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!

Title :  The Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Label & year : Original Columbia SCX 6157 LP , UK Stereo 1967 1st Press Vinyl!!!

Matrix's : Side A : YAX 3419 - 1 (1 R) , Side B : YAX 3420 - 1 (1 A).

About : Ultra rare Blue / Black 1st Press!!! This psych classic sold barely anything as a Stereo 1st Press (mono was the standard in '67) and had a very, very small, TINY run before being reissued on the black and white EMI label, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! This album is SURELY one of the best of all time. It has to be the best psychedelia i've ever heard. If you've never listened to it before, it's guaranteed to blow your mind!!! It certainly showed me just what sort of things are possible with sound. As you probably know, this original Stereo Blue Black Columbia 1st Press is impossibly rare, even more so considering worldwide Pink Floyd collectors have snapped up most of them - so when a beautifully conditioned one hits the market, it really is a moment to behold!!! Mono's turn up occasionally, but Stereo copies? NEVER!!! Easily the greatest thing Pink Floyd ever did with every song bar one 100% totally written by the genius of Syd Barrett, one of music's most notorious acid casualty's. Unfortunately, he left us last month, but we should be grateful that he wrote this masterpiece, one of THE greatest albums of all time. This original 1st press Stereo mix is extra special, the only issue direct from the master. Syd was a true, true genius, and this was his genius album (with a little help from his friends of course!). Absolute timeless classic psychedelic rock LP from this incredible band!!! An astonishing album that really contains some of the best music EVER recorded by anyone, and DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP!!! If you like good music, bid now!!!

Tracklist : Astonomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Matlda Mother, Flaming, Pow R. Toc H., Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk, Interstellar Overdrive, The Gnome, Chapter 24, The Scarecrow, and Bike.

Musicians : Syd Barrett- Vocals / Lead Guitar, Roger Waters - Bass Guitar / Vocals, Rick Wright - Organ / Piano, Nick Mason - Drums, and Norman Smith - Producer.

Trivia : This was part of a collection of classic albums recorded in Abbey Road in the summer of 1967 - in the studio's next door, The Beatles were building Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and in the next one on The Pretty Things were building SF Sorrow!

The LP :

Labels :

Classic 1st Press Blue & Black labels!!!. Both sides are AMAZING with minimal signs of age wear and NO nasty marks whatsoever!!! Just has a small amount of ultra light spindle marks which suggests that it hasn't been played too much at all!!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE for a 39 year old record!!! Both must grade overall as Very Good++ if not better!!!

Record : Visual -

Spectacular Ultra Thick 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks GREAT with NO nasty scratches OR any groovewear whatsoever!!! Just has the usual light surface wear you usually expect from an ultra rare LP of this vintage - a few scuff marks, light unaudiable hairline scratches, touches of MILD non sounding surface wear (purely cosmetic and not affecting the all important grooves), and just the usual light, wispy sleeve traces and light scratches (only visible in direct light) from general use, cleaning, and where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! There's only one small deeper looking scratch on Astronomy Domine, but thankfully it's only audiable for ONLY 2 or 3 ultra light clicks!!! Of course, none of these light blemishes (aside from the few mentioned brief clicks) affect play much AT ALL!!! It sounds AWESOME!!! BRILLIANT for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall visually as Very Good minus if not better!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!)    Record : Audio -    Thankfully, it plays AMAZINGLY!!! MILES BETTER than it's visual grade with fantastic stereo seperation and clarity!!! It really sounds amazing with NO hops, distortion, sticks, or skips!!! On most 1st presses of Piper, Pow. R Toc. H usually sounds absolutely TERRIBLE, even on visually mint copies - it only took ONE play on a mean 60's turntable to give that track irrepairable distortion!!! Not the case here - no distortion AT ALL!!! This LP sounds brilliant - only (like pretty much all records) has a little light "bluesman's fag" static crackle (and only the rarest light click - barely ANY!!!) in few and far between places such as on quieter sections and between tracks, but it doesn't come close to overshadowing the music AT ALL!!! I'd even argue it gives it added soul!!! The music is TRULY loud and clear!!! INCREDIBLE for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audiably as Very Good++ if not better!!!  (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!)    Sleeve :

Original 1967 front laminated flipback cover with Syd artwork on the back!!! Very hard to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn and worn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT and looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO graffiti, NO tears, NO splits, and still ultra strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has some usual signs of ageing such as SMALL amount of ULTRA mild creases in the laminate (ONLY visible in angled light),the HINT of a record shape, a couple of TINY ultra light stains on the unlaminated back (they look so mild, they will probably clean off - and that's the ONLY thing stopping me from probably grading this as EX!!!), and just a few other ULTRA MINOR hints of age blemishes here and there (all so incredibly minor, I can't even single anything out!!!), and that's truly about it!!! A true rarity to find this sleeve like this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! INCREDIBLE condition, the colours are still as vivid as ever, and even the spine remains 100% strong, solid and readable!!! Must grade overall as Very Good++ if not better!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me!!!)

Summary : A truly EXCEPTIONAL example of this ASTONISHINGLY RARE LP that sounds FANTASTIC!!! Hard to find in any condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS AWESOME AS THIS!!! Don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!!

Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, and cheers!

I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional light mark and light use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!

Postage and packing (UK bidders) will be £3.99 for the first item, £3.00 for every item after that. International buyers, postage is £7.99 for the first item, £3.00 for every item after that. Contact is expected to be made within 3 days, and payment usually expected within 7 days of the auction ending, otherwise you may lost priority over the item and it may be relisted e.t.c.
