MASSIVELY RARE Original 1979 Mint Un-Played True Earliest UK 1st Pressing Double Album 'The Wall' by Pink Floyd!!! With Original 1st Press Matrix (A2//B2//A1//B2), Very rare 1st Press Sleeve with Only One Seam Join & Original Transparency Sticker!!! Complete with Original Thick Die-Cut Inner Sleeves!!! All in Impossible Mint Un-Played Condition - The Best Example You Will See!!!!!

Firstly take a look at those matrix numbers below - they are the lowest you will ever see for this record. This is because the record I am offering you is the true 1979 UK 1st pressing. I point this out firstly because I have recently seen sellers offering copies of The Wall with much higher matrix numbers and claiming them to be UK 1st pressings (in fact one seller recently sold an A3/B3/A3/B3 for £517 claiming it to be a UK first pressing. Please do not let anybody baffle you with pages and pages of text to to obscure the fact that they are in fact trying to push later pressings on you - later matrix numbers equal later pressings, its as simple as that! This is schoolboy stuff for those who regularly buy high-grade vinyl records, but I thought I'd point it out because it really bugs me to see this kind of thing happening all over the place.

Right, that's my rant over for now. Here is another gem from my own mostly Nr Mint personal collection (which I am selling off gradually to lessen the pain...) You are bidding on an absolutely stunning true ORIGINAL1979 UK 1st Pressing of the progressive classic; The Wall by Pink Floyd. There are a number of features that identify this as the true earliest UK 1st pressing of The Wall from 30 November ,1979 (and not one of the hundreds of thousands of later pressings) Firstly it is the earliest UK 1st pressing out there with the A2//B2//A1//B2 1st press matrix!!! Although there are a number of features on this true 1st press uncommon to all the later pressings of The Wall (which I will outline below), please do not lose sight of the importance of these matrix numbers, A2//B2//A1//B2. As I mentioned above, anything with higher matrix numbers is NOT a UK 1st pressing!!!  Secondly we have the vital differences in the sleeve. All UK 1st issue sleeves were not pure white, they were a creamy colour. As the press run moved forward the white became more bleached until it was pure white. This is the very earliest cream-coloured 1st press sleeve. However, perhaps even more importantly, we have to look at how the sleeve was constructed, This sleeve only has **1** seam join along the top edge. The bottom edge is a continuous fold straight up into the inside of the gatefold. To put it simply, the whole sleeve is constructed from just one thick sheet of card. All later pressings *without fail* have **2** separate sections comprising of a stuck-together inner and outer gatefold panels. Only on the earliest UK 1st pressing were formed from just a single piece of card - this is a sure-fire way to check for a UK 1st press sleeve - and take it from me, there are very few out there.

Now we get to the 2 inners. Firstly, and as most people know, they should have rounded die-cut edges. However. look at the thickness and the inside of the inner sleeve. These 1st press sleeves were printed on much much thicker card stock than all later ones (even later die cut sleeves). However, the real point watch for here is the insides of the sleeves, they were not white like the outer sleeves, they were an uncoloured brown card. If the inside of the inner sleeves are coloured white then they are not 1st press inners!!! I tell you all this because I hate to see people get purposefully duped into buying mis-described records. Sure everyone makes mistakes, but intentionally making up reasons to describe a later press record as a first press is an annoying eBay habit I would like to see stamped out. There are many more subtle ways to distinguish this from all later pressings but I have given you the main points above, still feel free to email me if you require anymore info and I'll be happy to help out.

Of course no UK 1st press would complete without its original transparent title sticker.  As all original pressings were sold shrink wrapped, the transparent sticker (I call it a sticker but it is more of a peelable window sticker) was sealed inside the shrink wrap to tell people what they were buying. As we all know, Pink Floyd regarded their cover artwork very highly and didn't like to blemish it with text. The removable sticker was thus seen as a compromise between band and record label. Needless to say, most stickers were thrown out with the shrink-wrap. This is complete with its original sticker which is in Nr Mint condition and has not discoloured or ripped etc. like most other examples you will see today

Having established its proper 1979 UK 1st press credentials we now get to the astounding condition of this record, and I can safely say you are bidding on what is probably the best example of ANY copy of The Wall you will come across today, let alone the 1st ever UK pressing!!! This is so good because it is my own keepers copy. It was purchased along with another copy back on the day of release in November 1979 and was archived away, never to be played save for the play-grade. The other copy was my playing copy. The vinyl  discs are simply amazing. It is as pristine as you would expect from a record that has just been played once in its lifetime to play grade on a high-end Mitchell turntable. It is, to all intents and purposes an un-played record. I have gone into more detail below but this is about as good as you will ever find for a true 1979 UK 1st pressing of The Wall. Don't miss this hugely rare opportunity

As you'd expect, the Cool blue/white Centre Labels are in superb MINT condition!!! This record really is pristine!!!  There are NO spindle lines whatsoever!!! There are also NO Tears, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind to the centre labels - they are as close to Mint as it is possible to get!!! The gramophone rims containing the all important matrix are also Mint.

The THICK & CHUNKY UK 1st press discs are in Mint- in condition with NO scratches, No Hairlines, NO groove-wear and NO warping! Bothe discs are SIMPLY STUNNING!!! They are in straight Mint- condition with possible just the faintest wispy paper-line or two visible only when holding the record angled toward  strong light. I would have to grade these two discs as a strong MINT- condition at the very least! Please remember that my records are not over-graded at all! It plays simply pristine, with NONE of the common crackle, skips, jumps etc you usually hear on early pressings of this album. Having play-graded this once on my high-end Mitchell system I can report that it play absolutely pristinely. All I could find were about six moderate pops at the end of the title track during the quiet spoken playground outtro and that's it. These pops were caused by a very, very minor factory hairline that is virtually invisible when actually looking at the record. 

Both 1st press heavy card die-cut lyric Inner sleeves are in absolutely Pristine Mint condition!!! From new they have never been used to actually hold the discs so have absolutely NO wear to the seams or ring-wear etc. There is NONE of the seam splitting or yellowing commonly associated with these sleeves! The records were removed and replaced in regular poly-lined inners upon purchase and these original inner sleeves have been treated like inserts ever since, being safely tucked away inside the sleeves empty, whilst the record were housed in the replacement poly-lined inners.

The classic 1st Press Gerald Scarfe & Roger Waters designed Gatefold Sleeve is also in is also in STUNNING condition with NO Seam Wear, NO Tears, NO Seam Splits, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!!  It is nice and stiff and folds out perfectly!!!! The sleeve lies totally FLAT with NO RING WEAR and a MINT spine!!! Unbelievably it still retains all of its glossy cream (remember, the 1st press sleeve was made in a cream colour - not pure white!!) factory sheen!! There is NONE of the discolouration normally associated with these sleeves. It grades as very near pristine with maybe just one or two very light indents in the surface when angling the sleeve toward strong light. This sleeve must at  the very least grade as Ex+++!!! I say at the very least because this record, from the discs to the sleeve and inners, really looks like it could have been plucked from the shelf of your local record store this morning!!! A beautiful UK 1st pressing!!!

The very rare 1st press Transparency sticker of course is in stunning condition with no rips or wear etc and grades as EX+++

An absolutely essential (and very rare) 1st Press for any Pink Floyd/ UK Progressive fan to to own!!! Don't miss this one as these UK 1st Press LP's NEVER turn up any more in this kind of condition.  Please check out our feedback and bid with confidence as this is a NO RESERVE auction with a very low starting price!  Do not underestimate the rarity of this LP, it is very hard to find a UK true 1st press copy of 'The Wall' approaching this kind of condition, and you will very likely not see another in a very long time, if at all!!!
