Description
Here is the very rare, original Columbia release of Pink Floyd's Point Me At The Sky from 1968. I have owned this record from new and bought it at the time of release. I am not a dealer. This is from my own personal record collection. Condition is Excellent Plus and Near Mint. There are loads of foreign re-released versions of this single, but this is the original UK release on Columbia from 1968, number DB 8511. The centre bears the typical legend "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions. See price lists". The other side is Careful With That Axe Eugene. Very similar to a later offering called Come In Number 51 Your Time Is Up.
Pink Floyd were essentially an album band although the singles Arnold Layne and See Emily Play had launched their career. I think this was possibly Floyd's fifth single and was released after Syd Barrett left. Despite being a very good Roger Waters song, no-one bought it except me and just a handful of other real fans. That is why it is so rare. It would be another 5 years before Pink Floyd became a well known band and another 10 years before releasing another UK single.
I have looked after this record very well. Apart from just one or two very light scuffs, the vinyl is shiny, new looking and perfect. The record plays perfectly. There are no marks on the label other than a short name written in black biro that is virtually invisible. The original Columbia red sleeve remains in very good condition, showing just very light wear. You will wait a very, very long time to find another original U.K. copy of this record in such excellent condition - if one actually exists. Remember, this sold in very small quantities.
I am not letting this go cheaply and am not starting at a silly, low price, just in case. I am asking a very reasonable price though, for what is on offer. It will not be re-offered if no sale occurs. Therefore, if you want this very rare single then please bid now. Good luck and thank you.
